Well no, stopping the recount for no reason caused the Bush presidency. Also yet another case of a Republican losing the popular vote and being declared the outright winner.

People like Bernie Sanders and AOC keep these people voting for Democrats more than it drives them away.

I don't see how this is a bigger issue than the recount being stopped for no reason. Nader is allowed to run. You don't see Republicans pissing and moaning like this that Ross Perot stole voters from them etc. Plus back then a presidential run made sense to promote progressive policies that the Democrats wouldn't.

They didn't get Bernie, and the country busted.

No, Gore won Florida. Regardless of what Nader did. The Supreme Count stopped the count for no reason.

All the networks projected Gore to have won initially. Then when the recount was happening it was extremely apparent that Gore was about to overtake Bush. Then it was suddenly stopped.

Maybe Nader was a dick, maybe he wasn't. But it's nowhere near the most important thing to focus on in this situation.

They literally just stopped counting votes while Bush was ahead. Explain how stopping a vote count isn't cheating.

Dude. It's not a "conspiracy theory". I and many others watched the whole thing as it happen(ashamed to admit at the time I wanted Bush to win, but I was a teenager so w/e).

The margin was extremely close even before the recount started. It was at like 3000 votes. By the time the count was stopped(completely along partisan lines in the US "states rights" Supreme Court), it was at something like 530. That's like a 0.009 percent margin or something stupid like that.

If the count had continued, Gore would have pulled ahead. This really wasn't even in question at the time. Gore was picking up votes every single day and never had any real setback despite the Democrats' stupid tactical errors over the whole process.

I don't like Gore, I hate him and the entire Clinton network, but facts are facts.

The nation would have been far better off had Bush lost. Gore would have never sent us to Iraq.

But it wasn't a steal.

The thing we've learned over the past four decades is that "celebrity" means more than ability. Reagan had it, Clinton had it, Bush had it, Obama had it, and Trump had it. People voted the awe-shucks good ol' southern boy over the droll Gore. In truth, Al won the popular vote. But the EC is a lot of bunk anyway. Without them, Republicans would never win. The recount was reading the same as it had before.

Gore picked up a onion looking Republican, as a running mate. That hurt him too. Just like Hillary picked the most boring person to be named Kane ever.

The recount wasn't "reading the same". Gore closed the gap from ~3000 to 537 before it was shut down. This is despite all the tactical errors they'd made over the entire process. That's closing the gap by 83%.

Plus Gore had been called the FL winner by all the networks before they took it back, which is very significant and shouldn't be ignored.

Not even remotely similar situations, or at all relevant. Truman won that election by 303-189-39. The margin wasn't even close in the end.

The networks didn't "predict" that gore had won florida, they called it.
