I and many others watched the whole thing as it happen(ashamed to admit at the time I wanted Bush to win, but I was a teenager so w/e). The margin was extremely close even before the recount started. It was at like 3000 votes. By the time the count was stopped(completely along partisan lines in the US "states rights" Supreme Court), it was at something like 530. That's like a 0.009 percent margin or something stupid like that. If the count had continued, Gore would have pulled ahead. This really wasn't even in question at the time. Gore was picking up votes every single day and never had any real setback despite the Democrats' stupid tactical errors over the whole process. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
