Fest is finally almost here, along with the newest tier of content, crystal dungeons with D600 Neo Bahamut and D700 Bahamut ZERO. Hopefully also a refresh of the realm/element ticket pools to finally have DASBs.

On the plus side my Kimahri is pretty darn good now as I got everything for him from that banner as well as Yuna's Dual Awakening (didn't get Rikku's which is what I really wanted but at least I got her Dyad and Sync so not all bad). I can auto through Phoenix for Magicite Mission in 9s with the help of his Dual Awakening and he should be a great support for water DPS between his Awakening and his Dual. Really like the cap break to the party on his Dual Awakening that's a fairly unique effect.

I definitely am pulling this fest since it has tons of characters I like (Vivi, Rydia, Rinoa, Serah), or at least have good stuff for and use (Squall, Laguna, Prompto).

I have about 300 mythril right now. Not sure exactly how many fest pulls I'll do, but probably at least six.

I was thinking of doing another pull so I can get another cap break for Rude but thankfully good RNG here means I don't... well unless I want to go mage for Crystal Dungeon Sephiroth but that boss has like 17 million hp doesn't it? Sheesh.

Augh I can't quite kill magic Blue Dragon even with DA+AA1 Reno. Got him down to ~5% then first time and then 2.5% the second time after lensing Ashe's chase USB. He just uses too many dampens at the end with only Garnet's U3 for imperils

It also occurred to me after some delay that DASB-only Rude actually is an upgrade for my earth magic team, so I guess I'll use both of them after all (at least in principle... he could still get knocked out before I have enough to take on magic Striker)

Worse time, but I beat him on my first real attempt with this team. Earlier I had somehow managed to get him down to 9% with my 3.5 BDL team (SA only Edge instead of Reno) and I vaguely remembering going faster than I was here, but oh well!

The perfect Kain weapon was my last missing S2 perfect passive too; I just need CidIVs armor now.

Half price banner is always tempting, but I don't really want to invest in the Turks. Although I do have Reno's sync and awakening already, by accident. But he doesn't get a dyad here for some reason... I think it's a pass. I think there's a better half price banner coming up but I can't remember which event it is.

The half price banner I was trying to remember is the next IX event in about 3 months.

Also the spell blade crystal dungeon which just dropped in Japan has holy and dark 6* spellblade abilities. The cool thing about that is it lets Orlandu do the Rydia/Zidane trick with his sync+awakening. Although it would have been more relevant two years earlier, I could see it still being useful.

What do you guys do for healing in ffxiv realm. I am so lost as I don't have anything great for the dk. My thought here is bring the realm full break and leave mog at home for my strongest actual off realm healer and pray this works.

I had Y'shtola start out as healing and switched to damage later in the fight. Cait Sith provided some healing, and Alphinaud had his healing USB for emergencies but I don't think I used it.

FF14 is one of the easier dragonkings since it only has 4.5 million HP, but yeah Y'shtola kinda sucks as a healer unless you got her recent stuff. She's better than Alph though. Her normal glint is shell and haste if you don't have her proshelga glint+ and her brave USB is okay enough to get through Dragonking. I have her spam holyja so she builds meter quickly to keep the party healed.

Y'shtola with her BUSB is perfectly fine for healing against XIV Bahamut. Her with the usual Mog for support works great. Use Holyja for more SB gauge building.

If possible, run a mage team to take full advantage of the magic quick cast 3. It helps that there's no shortage of mages in that realm, between Papalymo, Alphinaud, Ysayle and Alisaie

Second real attempt. I had yshtola's busb but it didn't register to me how good it could be. A couple of close calls but alphi made sure no one was ever in danger from sap with his HA.

Alphi tore this guy a new asshole just with his USB and aasb tbh. Didn't even need to break kings rage.

Thanks for the reminder that it had little health gave me the confidence to try it.

Also bumped the crystal up to 120

Now I am down to core/1/IV/X/XI/XIII/0

pretty sure I can get it for one just need to clean up my soul break usage. Same for 4 and x. Xi is a pipe dream and 13 I think I just need decent luck. Hopefully I can finish most of these by the end of fest with stuff I pick up from the free draws!

Seymour sync is pretty solid; it gives a ton of imperils.

Yeah, that's what I thought when I read its description. Up to 6 imperil Dark is definitely nice.

So JP has a new tier of SBs which I don't fully understand yet. Looks like it includes at least 3 different buffs, one of which is HP+astra, one is double cast, and one is a weird infusion that boosts a different element too (Vivi gets fire infusion that boosts earth?) anyway, more Vivi relics to draw for.

The en-element boost should be the same as the element they infuse with. If Vivi's says earth, that's probably a typo.

That said, I'm not sure I fully understand them either. They give w-cast without consuming hones... which is apparently completely different from AASB which give w-cast and infinite uses. They don't seem all that great in a vacuum, but should be very strong when combo'd with DAASB or AASBs, since their w-cast apparently stacks with awakening modes.

My understanding is think USB + AASB and also the HA can stack with syncs since it isn't infinite they just cost 0.

They are very, very good in theory.

Yeah, that kinda sucks. It's not THAT unexpected, it kinda feels like the game has run its course. But the thing that sucks is there probably won't be any kind of wrap up, we won't get a bunch of content that was already released in Japan. Since they say they're going to stop selling gems 8/31 I think that might be the end of new content for us, with the last month just being a chance to complete anything you want to do before the shutdown.

I'm surprised they're doing it because as far as I can tell JP isn't ending. I'd figure that GL isn't that expensive to run if all of the development is a sunk cost.

It's so stupid they're ending the game when there's still more labyrinths seasons, crystal dungeons and new magicite. Give it another year at least or carryover global into Japan or something.

I get that the game is pretty much in zombie mode (basically we only play for nexus and fest bosses anymore and everything else is auto pilot or skip) so most people are bored of the game and see it more of a chore, but dangit I don't think it's that bad that it needs to shut down this abruptly, just when we're about to get new difficulty content too.

Is there a translation for the jp version lol

I stopped playing in early 2022 because I had just hit a wall with the higher end difficulty but to get the message that the game was ending was rather shocking to me.

Well we had a good run. Need to find something else to dump money into as a treat once in a while. Not going to bother with jp because I doubt it lasts that much longer either at this rate.

That being said I didn't think the game was bad at all. The high end content was fun-- yes I didn't bother with most of it but when I did it was fun.

But I also have spent like $30 on gems this year when I used to spend much more so I imagine a lot of people were in that same boat

Probably because bosses haven't really gotten difficult enough that dual awakenings are needed and sync/awakening combos can still handle most nexus bosses that people don't feel the need to spend money outside of a Dream select, and that bosses are limited to physical/magic elemental and realm that it seems wasteful to spend money on relics that are only good for one or two bosses each difficulty tier. Especially since anima lens+ are so common now there's no reason to sub30 bosses to give you that completion temptation to put money towards dyads and duals.

Like Arcane Dyad still didn't have Genesis's and I would have paid for it.

Honing awakenings probably hurt profit too. Especially ones that cover multiple elements like Edge, Bartz 1, Rydia 1 and Master 1 that people figured those are good enough to beat nexus bosses they don't need to put money towards single elemental characters. Bartz and Rydia's are even lens selectable now too.

I'm still playing Mega Man X Dive if anyone wants to join (global) It had a bad launch but it's improving now and I'm always down for co-ops there.

I'm going to try to avoid gacha games in the future. I liked this one, but it was a special case because of Final Fantasy and 2d art. I don't think there are any other properties out there that I like as much and also have such a wide range of characters and battles to draw from. (Even so there's been a ton of repetition by now, but I guess we're never getting that Warmech fight.)

Yeah I've enjoyed FFRK a lot, but it was way more of a timesink than I thought it would be catching up. I don't anticipate starting another gacha.

One thing I'm wondering is how much longer will Japan FFRK last? I was thinking of maybe moving onto that but thinking about doing all the grind of realm, record and labyrinth dungeons is too much of a hassle to start over with.

I guess when they're done with all the final boss Crystal Dungeons they'll close that too. Where do you go from there besides superbosses? Or are they just gonna turn generic enemies like Sandworm and Armor Construct into meta bosses again?

Also surprised Shadowsmith never became playable, and probably won't be at this rate.

I'd start over with JP it would be pretty fun getting all the story mythril and such with fully powercrept banners but yeah risk of it sinking in short order would be too much for me.
