Yet another SW show I started thinking "maybe I'll finally get it" and two episodes in and no, I don't get why people love this. It just felt so tonally all over the place, filled with easy choices to make plot work rather than just staying true to a character. These Inquisitors are basically all meant to be mini-Sith, yet not a single one of them has actually felt as evil and brutal as you'd expect (or was intimated by Rebels).

I mean, that spinning light saber of death that they slowly pulled people into didn't seem too friendly. Granted it only got like 1 second of airtime, but still.

They sort of hung that Jedi dude up. Couldnt quite pull the neck hanging off with the shows rating though.

also cut a hand off but I mean in Star Wars that is just a normal day

Yet the Grand Inquisitor seemed pissed at Reva attacking the tavernkeeper/Jedi and she also didn't instantly kill Kumail when he got in her way.

Because she was following orders! GI said no do the mean mean and she was like OKAY!

Anyone feel like Reva might turn Jedi? I kind of got those vibes at some points.

Reva turning good is so painfully obvious I'll be shocked if it doesn't happen. Or she'll sacrifice herself to save someone.

Ah, I just looked up some lore on that and I guess since he appears in future stuff, he must not be dead.

Reva's attitude seems founded in some bitterness or something

Would expect it's due to some past incident with Kenobi that will be explained and she might then turn face

I assume she was part of the beebs escaping the temple and Obi-Wan didn't/couldn't properly help them or something and so she blames him or something.

She seems ambitious and wanting to move up the ranks imo.

My guess is she blames Obi-Wan for Anakin's fall and the massacre at the Temple.

boy this catches me off guard because she was absolutely a highlight of these two eps, doing a good job standing out as a central antagonist with a mysterious vendetta behind her actions left to explore in the remaining eps

Im pretty sure the GI who is in Obi Wan is not the same as the one in Rebels

If they're different characters then they show will have to acknowledge some differentiating factor between them and I think that would be a waste of time for a character that's already dead.

Whereas if they are the same character, the issue would be acknowledged by the character coming back which is much more natural to write.

*fake edit* although I guess one way to address them being different characters would be to have the Grand Inquisitor we know coming in but that would also be very awkward because then it's like... why

I mean Darth Maul survived being cut in half so why not

I would consider it unfair if he was alive since Qui-Gon died from the exact same injury.

Either theyre different guys, or the fact the same guy died twice is gonna be a plot point clones are a good guess

And to refute my own claim, if they ARE supposed to be two different people, then why make them look so similar?

Clone is definitely a possibility given, well... PT & ST plots

Episode III: We will fight so hard for the fate of galaxy and Anakin will be left for dead while being immolated.

Obi-Wan Episode III: Anakin is so fucking pissed at Obi-Wan he's desperately hunting him down, sets HIM on fire as payback and wants to torture him going forward.

Episode IV: Some light taunting and a smug-ass Obi-Wan.

This deescalated very quicky.

I will say that Obi-Wan recollecting about his family before he became a Jedi was something we desperately needed in the PT to help give him some more humanity, rather than just being "sassy Jedi Master."

Clone Wars did pretty good on this with the Satine plot

So if he's not dead...why is everyone acting like he's dead? Like, if he's just recovering in a bakta tank, wouldn't the other inquisitors be privy to this?

I mean, she stabs him in a warehouse in a city where a lot of the inquisitors were in. I find it hard to believe anyone secretly moved the body without the inquisitors knowing about it. It seems fairly certain that that particular person is dead. Unless I'm missing something.

Which would lead to some kind of dark side of the force voodoo resurrection as the likeliest option?

I love what modern tech has let us see out of Vader. He is so awesome!

I feel a little mixed on this episode. Lot of stuff was great, like most of the scenes with Vader and stuff like Obi-Wani reminiscing about his family. Vaders scene with him ripping through the town to get Obi-Wan to come out was great! But I felt a bit let down by the fight itself, it was kinda dull. I get it, Vader isnt really trying to win, but I cant believe how boring it was. And the ending is so weird, and only makes sense if Vader wants Obi-Wan to escape

I saw it as Vader returning the favor. Burning him, but not finishing him off. Just like obi-wan did years ago.

I also think he wants obi-wan to suffer, not just die quickly.

Like I get what they were going for, and it's cool, but I don't know maybe it's just the way it was shot but that fight just didn't hit the way I thought it would.

Though thinking about it more, and reading other people's opinions, my mind starts to change a bit You can look at that fight and its conclusion as 1) Anakin is also deeply traumatized by their showdown on Mustafar to the point that hes also capable of getting stuck in his mind about it. 2) After 10 years of hating and hunting this man to see Obi-Wan as a broken old man probably caused some mixed feelings in Anakins core. This confrontation was undoubtedly built up so much for him that to strike down this fearful shell of a man would be hollow.

So I guess I need to see how they build off of this.

also can we talk about how Vader just straight up murdered a child and they showed it!

Vader was hunting/stalking/tormenting him.

He wants Obi-Wan to suffer and saw that he is literally zero threat. Plus Star Wars is littered with people letting people get away when they should be easily attained. Like it happens A LOT.

I am certain we are getting another fight between them in the 6th episode where Obi-Wan is back to his normal power. That colony is gonna give him hope or some such.

yeah this is how I took it, like as Vader was watching he definitely could have done something if he wanted but he was just caught in thought. To me it's that he's been looking to squash Obi-Wan for years and now that he's found him it's so unsatisfying to find this feeble state that he's in.
