Stupid question: How much fanservice (not of that kind) does this series have? Still feel like Disney Wars is a bit weighed down by it.

You guys are all wrong in your speculation

Clearly Vader is like The Hound and is scared of fire.

Also, confused how Reva managed to somehow get ahead of Leia in that tunnel ?_?

I think the fact that Reva didn't run into Tala leaving the tunnels is proof that Reva didn't take the tunnels.

Reva probably realized the tunnels would connect to the port and headed there directly.

Watched the first two episodes of Obi-Wan

Child Leia is really dragging it down for me. Very obnoxious. A little slow too.

Ewan McGregor still got it though and the inquisitors are kinda interesting so I'll keep with it but yeah not an instant hit for me like Mando and Boba Fett were.

I liked Boba Fett quite a bit throughout it yeah.

But maybe that's because I always loved Boba Fett (but at the same time wasn't attached to his limited characterization in Star Wars, because I could absolutely see why people would think it "ruined" him) so just having a story centered around him and getting him out of the Sarlacc Pit in a believable way to bridge it with the Mandalorian was nice.

But yeah Reva turned and headed directly to the port. Which I can only guess was a much more direct route than the tunnel.

I think Child Leia is playing both sides of the fence too hard as far as being too dumb and too smart at the same time.

Like I don't believe that a child who has been kidnapped is thinking clearly enough to concoct a scenario where Obi Wan is the reason she's been kidnapped while at the same time not realizing Obi Wan is not a bad guy and is trying to help her.

She also needs to act more like a kid and less like a fortune cookie in general. Like yeah I get it "she's smart"

yeah I had the same comment when episode 2 hit about Leia's way-too insightful but hole-filled reasoning, and that chase scene altogether was ridiculous... like Leia you're smart how do you think running around in the sketchy area you were just held captive is gonna go for you.

Outside of that though I've found her very enjoyable, and very Leia

I don't have issues with Leia as a character in terms of believability. My issue is how apparently no one is able to keep up with her when she runs away despite the fact she is clearly not running that fast.

I guess Reva learned the trick is not to engage in a direct chase

Just finished episode 3 and I have a question: Darth Vader ignites like gasoline or whatever to burn Obi-Wan, and then uses the Force to put the fires out. Then the woman saves Obi-Wan by igniting some more flames to block the way and... Vader just stands there? He just lets Obi-Wan get away? Why doesn't he put THAT fire out to go after him? All the Stormtroopers are yelling "I can't get around the fire" and I'm like "Why aren't you doing anything, Vader? You JUST put out a fire exactly like this like 8 seconds ago!"

Vader could've had a Sephiroth moment and walked through the fire, too! But I imagine in his pride, he wants to beat Obi-Wan at his best, so he lets him get away in hopes he'll step up his training and get back to peak condition for their next fight, which we will almost assuredly get.

Since this is a general Star Wars topic, I have a question to ask which I have no idea if it will come across as a joke: do laser weapons have ammo in the Star Wars universe? That would explain why that officer in the first movie didn't fire on the escape pod that 3PO and R2 got in, although I suppose that could have also come down to that officer being inexperienced and at least the Empire followed the pod to Tattooine (I guess this might also beg the question why Darth Vader didn't think to look for Luke there beyond the obvious answer that that family relation hadn't been written in yet, although maybe Vader had no sway in choosing where to look yet? Or didn't know he had a son?).

There was a short story in From a Certain Point of View about that.

The sensors detected no life-forms aboard. I thoughtumwe wouldnt have been scored with a killso Of course; now his actions made perfect sense. Annoyed with rebel propaganda that showed Imperials to be poor shotsfrankly, the stormtroopers could do with more targeting drillsfleet bureaucrats had issued a new policy that tied gunnery officers promotions to their kill ratios. Shots fired at unoccupied escape pods would indeed be considered wasted.

It was a comedically-toned story, all about the many forms the officer and gunner would need to fill out to cover their asses.

I've read that book but evidently I forgot about it. Picked it up during my "I finally get the hype for the original trilogy" phase in 2018.

Also I guess Obi-Wan was keeping a close eye on Luke the whole time so maybe he would have just taken Luke and bailed out of there whenever the Empire came calling.

As someone who has played republic commando, afaik yes. It's more of a battery pack than a cartridge containing physical rounds though, but it's still not necessarily an unlimited thing. Like in that game, the standard blaster that troopers use have to be reloaded.

I know that's not a canon game but it would make sense to me. Even lightsabers have batteries iirc that have to be replaced every so often.

Heh. I was just thinking of how all the idiotic decisions that set the plots of the prequel and sequel trilogies in motion make even the most idiotic decisions made in the original trilogy look believable - for instance, apparently the reason Governor Tarkin refuses to deploy the Death Star's reserve squadron is because there wasn't enough money to show it, so it's just passed off as in-universe haughtiness...except to be fair, the bad guys do almost win and only get taken down by sheer luck on Luke's part because he finally decided to believe in The Force. So it's not like Tarkin had no ground to stand on.

I also find it amusing how some act like the Death Star's weakness is a plot hole, even though it's such a tiny weak point (and no, I was not a fan of how Rogue One explained it) it's easy to just pass it off as an effect of how it was built. And on that token I always found one of the most common arguments against the Holdo Maneuver, that the rebels could have used it on the Death Star, rather precious since this is the same Death Star with one tiny weakpoint that Luke had to make a one-in-a-million shot against.

I also don't necessarily mean that said idiotic decisions are bad writing though - they were definitely intentional to some degree and it's not like people in real life don't make similarly dumb decisions. They probably just fall flat due to the dense politics presented in the prequel trilogy and the lack of attention to worldbuilding in the sequel trilogy.

It might not be as great as The Mandalorian saga, but it's still interesting entertainment.

I think the "fanservice wow factor" that Mando season 2.5 gave us stole a little bit of the thunder of seeing Vader and Obi Wan in live action like this again.

they still haven't explained the completely unnecessary continuity error of killing the grand inquisitor but they still have a couple episodes to explain that/reveal he isnt dead or whatever.

An interquel like this has little reason to "exist" considering we essentially already know everything that has happened and will happen. This show is basically the equivalent of MGSV. They're just filling in gaps that don't necessarily need to be filled.

Still enjoying it though, but it does feel strange that there are only two episodes left already.

I think this series has put the final nail in the Star Wars coffin for me. There was a glimmer of hope when the Mandalorian S1 washed away a lot of the rancid stench of the sequel movies, but they have slipped right back into nonsense and bad writing with Book of Boba Feet and now this. I saw the absolute abomination that was episode 3, and I now have literally zero interest in watching anything else Star Wars related.

wow I knew after Kenobi & Reva's convo that she was definitely getting killed but I didn't think it would be this episode. bringing in OG Grand Inquisitor to gloat was hilarious though, as is it great that Vader knew who she was all along

... but then that ending has me wait what where are they going with this o_o I mean she can't be dying now if she has the hook for next episode which is kinda the only tease we have to go on for next week's finale

and one last lmao in the flashback fight when Kenobi said so long as you yada yada you'll always be the Padawan in my head I was kneejerk thinking "no damn way is Anakin still a padawan here" but ofc he doesn't mean literally. I was kinda confused though at how that fight's moral was supposed be relevant to the episode, I don't think it really mirrored anything... Kenobi going in saber-less was to get a leg-up on Reva more than Vader.

I take it though that padawan line was supposed to be the little fix to make sense or rather just a nod to New Hope's 'last time we met I was but a learner" quote / dilemma

I liked it, though really don't know where we're going for the finale with that tease

That may have been the best episode of the series yet, though I liked the first one a lot.

The flashback was more to drive in that Vader was coming down to the planet to get him, and I think the idea of Obi-Wan using Anakin's lightsaber mirrored him using Reva.

I think what would have made this series better is every episode doing a flashback like that. Give me more Anakin lessons.
