Dentist said I had a cracked molar. She put on crown on it, but it got infected anyway and now it hurts like hell. She gave me antibiotics to hopefully knock down the infection, but it'll take at least a few days to really have any effect.

It hurts so bad I can't chew anything at all, even on the good side. So what can I eat in the mean time?

mashed potatoes and gravy

some real overcooked ham/chicken/pork, preferrably overcooked in some sort of gravy which you can then just like, stir really hard and and then just have little pieces of mushy ham/chicken/pork on your mashed potatoes and gravy

Speaking as somebody who spent three weeks on a fully liquid diet after jaw surgery, everything blends. Everything. Just add a suitable broth to get the consistency right (you wouldn't need full liquid, just something more smoothie-ish), and get to liquefying.

Note, however, that the added liquid volume will cause you to feel full after taking in fewer actual calories, so you may find yourself feeling quite hungry between meals. Fortunately, snacks also blend. Even more fortunately, there are a lot of snacks that don't even need blending, like pudding.

My daughter had to relearn to eat after her brain AVM. She drank a lot of fruit smoothies, ate yogurt and things like mashed potatoes. The difficult thing is finding actual food items that are not just sweet, dessert kind of items. If it is just short term there should be no problem.

Tooth pain is horrible. I hope all turns out well.

Soups give you tons of variety. Pasta also works with a nice meat sauce etc.

But yeah soup, cut up your protien into really small pieces, cut up mushrooms etc, and you get tons of flavor, all the protient/veggies etc, and no chewing:)

Soups rock!!

Even if you can chew they still rock.

I got some pudding, jello, cottage cheese, refried beans, and braunschweiger. I was also thinking of doing something my grandmother used to do, make corn bread then soak it overnight in milk. If things really get bad I've got some packets of Carnation Instant Breakfast.

Sounds Good. Although not the same I've had teeth removed where I needed this. Things like soups, yogurt, eggs, mashed potatoes and ice cream got me through the stitches and stuff.

Smoothies. Add yogurt for probiotic effect to "safeguard" you mouth since those little guys can clean up biofilm and sugar residue. You may add some things like cardamon, mint, or rosemary to assist in flavoring plus teeth cleaning until your next checkup, too. I once had wisdom teeth extract without pain medication, so I did that.

I hope you feel better soon! Two things I hate is when my feet or teeth hurt. That's a bummer.

Scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, soft fish, broth based or pureed soups, yogurt, cottage cheese, grains and beans are some foods I know of that don't require chewing.
