I ended up doing that after Melina sacrificing herself to open the way to Crumbling Farum Azula. Also found out that you can get teleported to the Roundtable Hold if you rest at a Caelid Site of Grace as well as the Liurnia of the Lakes Site of Grace. I'm on my 2nd character, and haven't been near Stormhold Castle yet.

Ugghhhhhh now I'm burned with frenzied flame and melina hates me. I wish there was an option to take it from the two fingers instead of a cutscene, I didn't realize it would happen as soon as the door opened.

I was gonna do everything anyway and get all the endings, but this is annoying.

There's a way to reverse it so you can do the other endings if you'd rather go for one of them. Though it involves doing Millicent's side quest and beating the Farum Azula secret boss.

I just finished the game. Got a few questions about the story. so the elden beast is actually the elden ring? Wasn't it shattered? wouldn't the elden beast want you to repair the ring? most of the endings involve repairing it using a mending rune. Also what's the deal with most great runes being optional to repair the ring? Like only 2 are needed? Why did Marika's children even fight each other if nobody cares about these?

This, I beat Radahn before he even summoned this meteors in his second phase.

All other Souls games were much more difficult in NG+

Havent gotten to Radahn yet, But Rennala p1 died on the first drop, and didnt live long enough to get a summon off lol

but yeah I wanted a bigger difficulty spike, since were fully decked out at that point

I've got a character idea but wanted some input from you guys on how to build him. Name will be Super Hero In Training (hopefully it fits lol) and it'll be centered around co-op and using the ring that summons me when peeps get invaded. But other than that Idk how to go about it. Definitely gonna use something with a cape but Idk if I should use hammers or fists or Idk

Edit: Ah crap don't think it's gonna fit even if I take out spaces. Foolish Ambition is 16 (I remember couldn't fit in the s at the end) and SHIT is longer

The Godskin duo fight only took me a few tries, but the shared health bar mechanic is really dumb and counter to literally every other boss in the game

Again these endgame areas just seem designed to provoke frustration

Just name him "The Superhero." That Frenzy spell which is an eye beam seems fitting since ocular blasts and whatnot are common enough. Not sure what you could use to emulate flight though.

I wish there was some kind of leaping ground smash with Fist weapons akin to Lion's Claw or Blaidd's royal greatsword ash. But yeah I was thinking about the eye beam laser thing too so good call lol

It's not a weapon Skill, but Scarlet Aeionia will put you in the air and then you sorta do a superhero landing. The flower isn't very thematic though <_<

Take off your +25 weapon and use a lower level one.

I think all I have left is a few bosses.

I beat the first boss of the ashen capital, and am trying to beat Malenia before I progress otherwise

Blasphemous Blade gives you the added perk of healing you after kills.

Finally got around to beating Melania and yeah that was a big difficulty spike.

I'm INT/DEX with Moonveil and a Cold Uchi. Had to resort to getting Bloodhound Step for my Uchi and use that to increase my survivability for myself and my Mimic Tear. Could get through the first phase well enough. Although that generally relied on both myself and the Tear ripping into her ruthlessly before she could really fight back.

But the second phase just had too many 'one wrong move and your dead' moments for me to get there. I feel like if the Comet Azure Wondrous Physick trick currently worked (apparently it's glitched at the moment) I could have blasted her during that flower move thing and wouldn't have much left to go. But I just didn't have a good enough spell to take advantage of while she was in that state and it felt like a moment for INT builds to shine.

Spent over an hour on it. It did feel doable but it also felt like it wasn't really worth it to keep trying when nothing else in the game seems to be this extreme. So I took the general advice and went blood build with Rivers of Blood and yeah she's a chump for that build. Only took a couple of tries once I learned Corpse Piler (it's like the Paintbrush in Splatoon 2!)

Which makes it just an odd fight in general. There are always builds that make certain fights easier or tougher. My DEX/INT build is a pretty good all rounder in that regard since I'm decent up close and at range. But for Mel it just seemed a bit too reliant on having the right kind of build that reliably staggers her and damages her before she can pull out her big moves. The quicker that she can be dealt with the easier she is due to her life steal ability.

An odd fight in general really. I know the intention is to make an undefeatable swordsman but I don't think the right balance was quite there. There's too many one kit kill moves for a two phase fight and the life steal means you need characters that hit hard quickly.

Okay after finally getting to mountaintop yeah I see the difficulty spike.

Funnily enough the bosses Niall and the Dragon were easier than the one red eyed teleporting knight at castle sol.

I'm not too fond of these areas though, they lack a lot of typical fromsoft charm. Linear path, no shortcuts, tiny mountain area when the map shows this huge mountain bigger than liurna.

Should I just go ahead and beat the game? I got to the final few bosses and made a new character that I took up to lvl 80 solely for pvp and that's what I've been doing for the last 60 hours of playtime haha.

I swapped out mimic tear for redmane knight ogha on the internets recommendation

mimic tear gets hit too much and ends up just being a source of health

ogha knocks her down with every arrow hit

This final boss combo is annoying.

First one is a hard hitting and fast moving guy who likes to parry magic. Vulnerable to Cold +(fire as well I think but I'm INT/DEX).

Second one likes to fly around and isn't vulnerable to any status effects. So physical attacks and long range magic would probably be better. But then I've often used up a lot of my potions from the first guy if I'm not efficient taking him down with statuses.

Ugh I'm sure I'll figure it out but it's an annoying and drawn out combo they've done for the finale.

Contrast to what the poster just before me says, I found the final boss disappointingly easy

took me two tries to beat Godfrey and one to beat the final boss. I didnt even use most of my flasks

contrast to Malenia which took me at least 40 tries (I know because I used all my rune arcs and finally beat it on my first try without one)

granted I am somewhat over leveled at 168, but a lot of other enemies, like Dragon Lord Placidusax still put up a hell of a fight at this level

Im saving to get the different endings, but I just missed the plat because I missed one missable legendary weapon smh

After taking a break to get a wisdom tooth extracted by Elden Ring journey is finally over after like 90 hours. Ended up sticking with the trusty Moonveil (seriously does the job for every boss other than Melania) and quickly upgraded Tiche to 10+. I was level 150 so quite a bit lower and felt like most of the final stuff I was overleveled for near the end. Even the Godskin Duo was easier than facing them alone earlier in the game.

Overall a pretty fantastic game with loads of annoying QOL issues and oversights which are probably due to how vast the game is. It really is a new benchmark for open world design. The right combination of open world along with knowing how to block and funnel the player in the right areas and ways. I hope other developers take the right lessons here. It's totally fine to have higher level areas and make us earn reaching new locations. The size of the optional areas in this game takes a lot of balls.

The game does lose a bit of momentum after leaving Leyndall and the snow areas don't feel as rich as the earlier areas. In fact I actually think Limgrave is probably overall the peak when it comes to all of the design coming together. Bur I can't think of another game that manages to be this engaging after 90 hours so that's overall pretty minor.

I was unsure if I'd care about the game and the reviews hooked me. I'm glad I made the effort to play it. This game is going to be talked about for a very long time.

Latest patch was mostly buffs and bug fixes although they added that bug in the malenia fight that makes it harder when using summons, and also a bug that I experienced where 2 phase boss fights can instantly die when the second phase starts

It is in fact status effects that cause the bug. Any kind of status process like bleed, Frost, poison, rot, can lead to boss insta death in 2nd stage.

Does fire count as a status effect?

No, but I think Black Flame spells/skills all do some kind of DoT that's unique to them and isn't on any other pyromancies or fire-related weapon skills.

I found him rather easy when I played a couple of days ago.

Although I think a thing with most of the lategame bosses is their difficulty really depends on what moves they pull out. For whatever reason it doesn't seem to be consistent.

Took me a little over an hour to speed run to get the bolt of gransax in the capitol for the platinum

ran to caelid to and fort haught to get the lift medallion, took about 10 minutes each to do stormveil castle and the academy, ran straight to the capitol and ran through that to get to Godfrey

crazy to think about this was like the 60 hour point my first playthrough

Again, super behind everyone else considering I've been playing since shortly after release, but I beat Renalla <_<

Very easy boss, but she only summoned on two of my attempts. Maybe would have been more of an issue if she'd done that more often. The troll she summoned took no fuckin' damage from me and the leonine misbegotten thing was nasty.

Bubble hammer destroyed Fire Giant. Staggered him 2 times each phase.

Mountaintops was a boring, empty area. They definitely lost steam here.

Funny enough, she triggered me more than any other boss my first run. I actually kicked out the door of my entertainment center.

I fought her way too passively my first run. I saw the dragon a few times.
