Man......NPCs just cannot catch a fucking break in this game, lol. Its possibly the most depressing outcomes overall amongst all the souls-like games, and bloodborne was pretty depressing.

I like how the one bro Iji was alive this entire time in my game, mainly because I forgot to ever check back in on him after I got the one talisman off him. I went to talk to him to you know, close loose ends I guess, tell him about the one half-wolf bro's death. He was like damn, I guess I'll apologize to him in the afterlife and hopes he forgives me. Yeah well that came quicker then he thought because as soon as I sat by the near by grace he is now burning in eternal black flames. Jesus christ, I didn't even go anywhere yet it happened that damn quick. Fuck, lmao.

Even the ol' sweet spirit tuner girl is probably going to just burn to death at round table hold talking about she is going to stay with old master hewg until the end.....man. Even the finger reader chick is just dead like she got ran over in the road or something.

At least I got this really sweet edgy armor to avenge their deaths with. Queen whats her name, you are going down, you will feel my pain and their pain and everyone else's pain:

What in the flying fuck is even this elden beast boss? This has got to be the worst shit from software has ever put in this game. No, I'm not being salty, this boss is genuinely terrible.

Not as good as Bloodborne/10.

And yeah, the final two bosses are obnoxious. The majority of the bosses in Elden Ring suck ass.

Now see radagon on paper is a cool boss fight....I see where they were going with him, but they went way too goddamn overboard on the stall attacks. Sure, whatever, I powered through that fine enough. I can see it being fair...annoying (even more so with their dash across the world slap you on the back of your head like your momma used to mace hit, lol), but fair once you properly learn this fight.

This elden beast shit? No....just no. You have this shit fly up in the fucking air for like 60 percent of the fight, spam light halos that you can't even see because the camera does not go that high, have this big fat ass shit take off like a jet across the planet thus you are just chasing this shit the entire fight, and by the time you catch the fat fuck you are out of stamina and can only get like 2 or 3 hits off....maybe a full L1 katana dual weird combo if I am lucky, then its back to play tag.

This shit 100 percent genuinely hot garbage. Sticking the two back to back makes it even worse.

Not even going to front...I have no desire whatsoever to replay this anytime soon. I'm going to get the three ending trophies, pop that plat, and actually go back to a fun hard game where I admit that everything is 100 percent my fault like sifu. A lot of these bosses just wasn't fun imo.

I'll keep this in mind when I go for the frenzy flame and the ranni ending. I'll do it legit for my first win, but the other two fuck that I am removing half the fight.

Still chugging along on my INT playthrough. I have a little bit of Linurnia of the lakes left to explore. I think i logged off outside Carian Manor. After that's done I'm doing the Academy. Already cleared out the two intro underground areas. Already fought through the magma worm cave to Atlus Plateau.

I went to beat the Glintstone dragon last night and my spells were hitting for shit. Of course it makes sense that the dragon is strong against magic. My first time I just bonked him to death with a hammer. This made me realize I missed a very important spell I should have grabbed when I got the Meteorite Staff. I didn't grab Rock Sling. Went back, got it, tested it out and holy shit. I'm not sure I will ever cast Pebble again. Yeah the FP is a little more but it staggers enemies pretty well and can manage to hit other enemies that are close to your target.

My spells now are:
Glintstone Pebble (I may get rid of this)
Glintstone Arc - Decent for weaker enemies when in groups
Carian Slicer - I used this a lot at lower levels but I'm not using it as much now since I have the Ice Spear.
Rock Sling - Loving it
That spell that puts the marker on the ground that gives you more magic damage when you're standing in it

and

That spell that's like Glintstone pebble but you can charge and they hang in the air for a second before flying at the enemy. - I kind of like this one for fast enemies that dodge and roll a lot. It actually carried me through an Evergaol fight with one of those dudes with the big shield because it would shoot out after they had already passed hitting them in the back.

finally beat Radahn! couldnt do it without all those summons and my noble steed! lol

now i gotta look for a shooting star apparently.

Well gents.....I got my legit win. Yeah, bloodhound's step was literally all I needed to deal with the stupid ass beast Almost feels like from software pigeonholes the player into using certain moves like this at times to deal with the bullshit.

Everyone's seed will speak of......how my character did......stuff. I don't know how the story in these games go until I read like 10 hours of wikis for everybody to decipher it, =/

Real talk, I do not feel fulfilled at all really. You know how you get that hell yeah feeling after first beating bloodborne or dark souls 1/3 or whatever? I feel absolutely nothing.

I'm not crapping on this game completely though its still a great game all things considered, but with a lot of those end game mobs and bloated stats and those annoying stall attack bosses the game decides to spam you with towards the end (along with that thing they stuck at the very end), it just seems like the best way to avoid all headache is to use the cheesiest shit until they decide to patch it for not playing the way they intend you to play.....to be miserable I guess.

Still though 7.5/10 game if I had to pull a rating out of my ass. Best weapon selection and power stancing is awesome but the late game mobs and certain bosses drug the experience down imo. Bloodborne overall is still my favorite from game, lol.

So, my gf started with Astrologer, and holy crap, this looks like easy mode. I've never played magic users before in Soulslikes before, and this is apparently more powerful than it usually is?

I've never played other souls games either but I've heard the same thing. It's a shame that Glintstone Pebble kinda remains the most useful spell throughout the game.

No, it's not. Rock Sling is the most used spell. Eventually, it'll be the crossbow, and then the Comet late-game.

I've understood that with the patch a lot of spells were buffed, but that the damage/poise damage per FP of Pebble remains super high throughout the game. Is that wrong?

Pest Thread does insane damage to Elden Beast. I fear it might be nerfed.

During my magic playthrough I stopped using most spells late game and just spammed tf out of moonveil weapon art lol. I know that weapon got a slight nerf so idk if its still uber powerful. Saved my ass a lot during that time tho.

When i did use spells i usually used abdula moonblade, icecrag pebble, glintstone pebble, renna's darkmoon, and rock sling. For moon/ice spells i wore the snow witch hat + also used that sceptre staff you get from rennala remembrance. In rare cases id use aster's meteorite spell and comet azure both with terra magicus activated. This was prior to patch 1.03. Idk which spells are the best now.

in all seriousness though, i think it's hilarious tbh. invading meant something in the early titles when world states and undead/hollowed states and their associated penalties were a thing, and the restoration or correction of status wasn't as easy as warping to like the third grace in the game and grabbing two flowers.

the lore implications of stealing someone else's souls or their humanity was cool af too. elden ring has none of these justifications, lore, gameplay, or otherwise. and considering there is literally a dedicated mode for dueling, the only reason to invade is to interrupt the play session of someone else. if you enjoy that, that's cool. you do you, not gonna tell you how to enjoy the game. but to pretend that the goal of invasions isn't to fuck the day up of a dude who 99% of the time isn't looking for pvp is laughable, and throwing the blame on them for becoming vulnerable to invasion by doing co op is dumb af.

if you wanna be a dick, be a dick. it's a core part of these games and i love it. but don't act like the fuckin host wants you there because cooperative play made them open to invasion

No...I have. I've now finished Bloodborne, Elden Ring, and Demon's Souls PS5.

Bloodborne is by far the best.

My observations with multiplayer.

> When Hunting I dont really mind hosts that have used Torrent to hide somewhere inaccessible. As a Blue I am assuming to be jumping into action with allies but the sudden 1vs1 duel that has been set up for me is fine too. As a Red though, thats annoying.

Yeah, you're better off invading legacy dungeons. Invading the overworld is just frustrating for invaders.

I actually really like the final boss it wouldve been even better if you got to use Torrent in the last phase. It also has the best boss music in the game. My theory is that the Elden Beast is the One Finger because it flips you off with its long head in its intro cutscene

Did you guys know about the Radagon phase 1 glitch? Basically as soon as the fight starts you just run straight to his left arm and he'll just stand there and won't move unless you physically attack him so that means you can spam magic against him to kill his 1st phase. Pretty neat. Can't believe they haven't patched this yet.

I knew about it but I never went out of my way to activate it. I've been seeing that and the final boss freeze A LOT whenever I help people with co-op though.

So we know the Lands Between is just one continent or country in their world and The Greater Will is one of many Outer Gods as well.

There's the Land of the Reeds where the samurai armor is from but looking at the armor description it sounds like that continent or country is in worst situation than Lands Between. From the armor set:

The Land of Reeds has long been locked in a miserable civil war, during which time it has remained alienated from the cultures of its neighbors. Little wonder that the entire nation has succumbed to blood-soaked madness, or so it is said.

There's also The Land of Numen where Marika is originally from. So this means outsiders are able to become ruler of the Lands Between.

This allows this game to expand even more.

I don't know what everyone else is on about. The more I play this game, the better it gets. The late game has to be one of my favorite section.

I hated late game my first two playthroughs. 3rd playthrough i planned ahead by leveling vigor high and also started consuming boiled crabs and wearing higher damage negation armour. This is alongaide higher str level too which i think contributes to some damage negation (correct me if im wrong) This combination i feel really helped me in the late game.

I recently went through haligtree and didnt have to avoid the common mobs this time around. I beat pretty much all of the mobs where as with my last 2 playthroughs i ran away from them most of the time unless i was cornered xd. I still struggled with malenia but this was also the first time i fought her without using a spirit ash and without using a bleed/mage build (i used dual colossal hammers this time around). I eventually killed her in 2 hours of attempts vs 9 hours with mage/bleedbuild + a mimic. I just wasnt dying as quickly anymore which really helped me.

Im still unsure how well newgame+ and its succeeding modes will be like for me. I plan on sticking with this build because i find it fun.

I will say this though.....the first elden lord and malkileth was hype as hell, lol. God damn I really loved those fights....just all kinds of slam city wall jumping nutiness going on.

I realized this with the Godskin Noble fight. Rock Sling just wasn't as good as the good ol' Moonveil. You can just dish that out so quick.

There's a Mist spell that has low cost that does quite a bit of damage over a large area that's also quite good. Downside is it also damages yourself if you find yourself in the mist so not a good choice for those boss fights that force you to move everywhere. A good combo with a Spirit Ash who can hold a boss still.

Beat the Godskin Duo on my second try, but, I did have the NPC summon from the Volcano mansion and also I used spirit ashes. No regrets!

Just beat a huge dragonkin boss underground and an achievement popped and I feel like I got nothing of use from it and theres nowhere to go from here

The only advice I think a beginner needs:

- Pump vig and only put enough points into attack stats to use a weapon (until later when your vig is high enough). You get more gains from weapons by upgrading them for a while than you do putting points into the attack stats.

- When you enter a new area always seek out the mines and churches early. Upgrading weapons and your flasks are top priorities.

Other than that, just go out and discover on your own.

I would more recommend looking up stuff when you feel a bit confused about something so you aren't bombarding yourself too early. Maybe at most see if there's a character build you want to work towards. But even then if you have chosen a class you like the sound of you can just follow the lead on the stats established. My advice is don't spread yourself out too much. Focus on around maybe 4 stats (make sure one is always Vigor!) that you think fit your playstyle. But don't get too stressed because you can respec later in the game.

Stats are pretty simple overall. Weapons have minimum stat requirements and scaling. When you have a weapon that's say A STR and B DEX that means the more you have invested into those stats the more damage the weapon will do. STR gets a bit more since it's A. Follow that logic and the rest should overall click. Focusing on two offensive stats is generally what you want. Then VIT. Then whatever you feel like benefits your style.

If you're not even up to leveling up yet that's all good. Follow the Graces until you can talk to an NPC who unlocks that.

If you pick up a weapon or whatever and you aren't sure if it's worth it feel free to look it up.

If you are hours in and are still struggling look up some guides to find good weapons for your build If you are investing in DEX/INT then you'd look up what the best weapons are for that build. And yes as mentioned earlier weapon upgrades are important too. You'll get to that eventually and look for red circles on the maps to find lots of smithing stones.

But overall you'll be okay. It's an open world RPG. If something seems tough just go explore elsewhere. It's really easy to over level yourself for the first half or more of the game just by exploring.

been getting in 3-4 hour sessions per night and maintaining a steady clip of 4-6 named bosses per session. Should put me at completing the game in about a month

today was a night cavalry, Erdtree avatar, that demonkin boss underground, the manor boss, and then two in a catacombs that had a black knight assassin and some other boss

Finally beat malenia. Glad that's behind me. Used freeze buff on my sword in phase two and just wailed on her hoping to keep her stunned.

Liurnia of the Lakes region is almost completely done. All I have left is the plateau you get to from underground.

Found Lorettas Greatbow and Meteorite and added both to my selection of spells. I've used Greatbow a few times and I really like that spell.

Meteorite a lot of people say is great but I haven't found a good use for it yet. I've tried it in open areas and it likes to miss. I read it should be tried in corridors and I'll get around to that eventually.

On to Caelid. I need 4 more dex to get 18 for the Moonveil Katana i'll be picking up soon.

So Im up to the final boss and what the hell is this fecal matter lmao. Sword Saint, Lord of Cinder, Gywn. Even the DS2 final boss are all incredible. This is dookie.

Yeah, it's pretty lame. It's a health sponge as well.

Yeah Elden Beast is more annoying than hard. Bloodhound Step and Pest Thread makes him incredibly easy.
