How do you get the jellyfish? I read that the girl gives it to you but she is in roundtable. Also the girl that gives the wolves just never showed up so I had to buy them. Margit annihilated the wolves super quick - I dont bother with them because they die so quickly. Ive been trying Margit solo for a bit - not much fun. Ive had fun in the open world though and taken down a couple of bigger enemies and it felt good.

I had them before I even had the bell. The sequencing between the summons/bell seems to break and I've seen multiple people acquire these in entirely different steps/NPC's randomly not be where you'd think they'd be.

The jellyfish seems to be great and the other summons seem to suck.

I got the jellyfish from a girl in a shack which was literally just to the right of a bonfire (or whatever they call them here) on the critical path. Before you go into the castle to fight Margit. I think I got it from her the 2nd time I talked to her.

Yeah that's a problem with the Souls games in general. You either gotta do research on how it all works or just take the time to experiment, but with most things costing resources I usually just resort to using the Internet

Yeah, the jellfish is at the Stormhill shack. You have to talk to the girl there three or four times before she gives it to you.

Jellyfish is the mvp tho. Outclasses the other summons by a mile

I've only tried jellyfish, but I've found two "special" summons that i don't have the fp to even use. The description of one says she stands still when summoned? So probably only for bosses.

This menu system is definitely overwhelming.

Beat Godrick! That was probably my favorite fight so far

I have one summon that just creates like five shitty dudes, which I use sometimes because its a lot of distraction for the boss

also eventually you can get the ability to upgrade the summons so maybe some of them can become more viable?

I've had a lot of success with the wolves stunlocking dudes. Jellyfish is better though.

Came to the realization that I probably got to Godrick way too soon resulting in me being under leveled and under pre prepared. Decided to turn back and explore and loving every bit of this aspect as well.

Once you get to the hub it's doable.

I think I accidentally got there way early because i followed a path that happened to lead around stormveil...

Didn't even walk into the Strom Fortress yet!

Also if you're saving your stone keys, and you find one you can use with a lot of turtles around....use it.

I've gotten to Margit but only got him down to about half health after 3 tries and the help of an NPC summon. I think I'm supposed to use the jellyfish but I kept forgetting about it. I'll give it a few more tries before I go off exploring some more.

I did beat some mini boss in a cave with wolves, so that was good. Went into some catacombs with little gremlin things and got my ass handed to me by the boss, so left that for later. And I went into the middle of that circle with the little eyeball rock things and again got my ass handed to me by a boss.

You should explore.

I've beaten 7 bosses and haven't even walked into Margit's area. There's a LOT you can do before trying to hard progress through that area.

I've played every Dark Souls and it took me about 10 tries to get to half health and another 20 or so to win, after leaving and leveling for a bit and getting some better equipment. Also using the NPC and a bell summon. That's just how this game is. But most any difficulty in these games can be overcome by getting more stats/gear. The castle definitely seems like a place you should complete only after leveling up quite a bit.

Finally leveled enough to use the Winged Scythe. Stumbled into the Divine Tower of Caelid and the boss there is no joke for where I'm at right now. Guess I'll go give Margit a shot now.

This is the best advice for anyone struggling and leveling up and upgrading weapons feels like it isn't doing enough. I missed a shit ton, and I'm still missing a bunch of things that I'm now re-exploring because I realized how much I probably missed.

My guess is if you sit at a Site that's "past" him it counts, and going far right there's torrent jump pads that can taken you to the barren areas of the map.

Just happened to luck out and unlock it after sitting at a sick as fuck burning Church.

I fucked around in Lucaria for quite a while but honestly the level progression still feels pretty weird. Most bosses or strong enemies I run into can one or two shot me and yet most things are barely dropping any runes.

I got mine after sitting at the Murkwater Catacombs Grace point. I'm not quite sure what exactly triggers it, but I still haven't gotten past Margit.

I think you're much more expected to get runes by selling and collecting the items than in the other FS games. A tip: if you see glowing skulls, break them open for free rune items (Tempest can do it by just running into them).

Maybe it's just based purely on how many Sites you've unlocked?

The most obnoxiously rare item for me at the moment is the Smithing Stone 3. I'm sitting on a bunch of 4/5s but only a single 3.

So I found the little NPC to help with Godrick after struggling for a bit. She helps, except when the boss immediately aggro's her and runs to the door because his tornado becomes too janky when on an incline. Basically start every fight desperately hoping he'll aggro to me down the way, that she'll actually follow(She sometimes gets stuck at the door) and then have to also get jellyfish out somewhere below after that. A lot of work to solve a dumb problem.

Also I really just needed to bitch about the plan because once I was properly annoyed with the plan I was better able to adjust the consistency and killed it in a couple attempts.

I accidentally found a portal early on that could teleport me to Farum. Sitting at the bonfire there allowed me to get to Roundtable despite having beaten no boss by then.

I wondered if that's technically behind Margit and that's why it counted. Not sure what triggered it but I was a bit confused. Place was decent to farm a few levels, getting FP and Stamina a bit up.

Can you actually choose to go through Godricks castle through the front?

Running backwards through it Im delighted how insane it is.

I've never played a game from this genre before. Does the class matter?

If you dont get the jellyfish before the girl goes to Roundtable, you can just keep pushing her storyline in there and eventually get them.

Class only really matters for starting gear.

What are runes actually used for? Where do you level up?

You can't do it from the start, but it's still at sites of grace. If you simply follow the directions the game gives you for a short while in Limgrave, you get it.

I think you need at least 3 grace sites on the world map then have to stay at one you've already unlocked.

It was the third I came to without counting one in the optional tutorial area, but maybe that one just doesn't count.

I think there are two grace sites pre-elevator, so maybe it's 3 in the outside world or something - don't know.

For Roundtable Hold, I was guessing it was number of grace sites as I skipped past one between the Smouldering Church and the one nearest the minor Erdtree in the area and when I returned and found it was when I unlocked the Hold. Unless it's based on runes collected or something, but that seems less likely.

Or there might be multiple conditions for unlocking it.

Opening the gate doesnt lock you out of going the other direction though, so seems like you may as well tell him to open it.

a ton of enemies might be one of the mildest understatements

I kind of want to go back when Im level 70 or whatever with dumb giant AOE attacks and level it

Im like 45 and its managable. Need to get to a safe spot quick to not get ballistad to death, but then the actual individual enemies only trigger if you get close so you can do it a little at a time.

and theyre worth like a 100 runes each so I popped one of the bird feet that increase rune drops and went on a murder spree for a bit

honestly my only critique with this game is its too much too fast.

I went north with my horse and kept going and going and going . And going

And it was just set piece after set piece all unique with different themes.

It was honestly overwhelming considering how long it took just to check out the southern area. I think breath of the wild had more self contained manageable areas which didnt overwhelm me as much.

Godricks castle had a similar issue where it felt there was a million different ledges I could fall off and I couldnt keep track of the layout mentally because of how huge it was.

To clarify I dont think thats a bad thing, people who like sprawling open world games probably prefer that more but 15 hours in or so Im pretty confidant this isnt going to overtake breath of the wild for me. But its still in the ball park

lol wow just got super lucky on my second attempt to fight Godrick. I guess I stunned him at the HP percentage where he would shift to his second form, so he just didnt do it at all.

Any good farming spots people find yet? So far I found one where you can conveniently knock a mob off a cliff for 300 and a tower with 1000 rune guys that are manageable. It feels like they arent dropping much this time though that may be because I have been spending all my time so far just exploring the map gathering grace warp spots and stumbling upon random things rather than doing any of the main areas. This map is huge

Progress is still slow and annoying enemies are in every corner

Did knock off some minibosses at least, like the one in the stone circle and the one in front of a Sorcery shop

In Caelid (northeast part of map from Limgrave where sky and map is red). If you have the map its the little circle grey spot in the middle by the northern shores. You need to jump on a root onto the narrow walls that are along it. It's a pretty short ride from Dragonbarrow West. Gave me 1055 points from a soldier there and they can easily be knocked off if you don't want to take them out normally. Points seem a bit more tight in this one though I am also wondering if that may be from starting as Wretch (probably not though).

aand after messing around there some more I managed to find a way further climb up it and find a grace spot! It's called the Divine Tower of Caelid

Holy shit one of the mobs there that was pretty easy to deal with gave me almost 6000. Edit well now it seemed to go back to 1200 or so but either way two easy to take out mobs in walking distance of a grace is great. I know where I am hanging out for a bit.
