I think my least favorite part of owning a Switch is most games come out at $60 and stay that way for a long time. These days on Xbox, even an AAA game will drop $15 within 5-6 weeks of release. Having to pay almost a hundred bucks a year for online is a fucking scam. Kinda wanna get a PC when I'm in a better position to capitalise on that. If you've got the original packaging, you might be able to score a couple hundred bucks reselling it at a place like CeX or like a really good secondhand store. I don't want to get into the whole thing about it but it escalated because finances (we're both out of work) and he often asks me to bring weed or asks me to chip in for gas (fair enough because he usually picks me up but fuck man it's not far like barely half a mile) and/or buy him cigarettes. He's not entirely wrong been I've been slacking about trying to find work again since pandemic fucked us both over. He's tried a bit harder. I also have a bigger safety net... but that's not for me to be fucking around with. That's something my family set up and it was meant to put me through college and I dropped out but fuck me if I'm gonna squander it. No. It's a safety net. It's not fuckin income. I know the decent thing to do is just find a job but it's not like my buddy's been able to do that and we got into a fucking shouting match about finances because he challenged me on something and I hit back and it just escalated in a second or 2 or 3. I'm surprised no one called the cops. He broke some shit in his apt. Once I realized I had gone too far in what I was saying, I tried to calm him down and apologize for my part in the argument but the dude's a 2nd degree blackbelt. He may be only like 5'4 but like I said he's a 2nd degree blackbelt. I can only hold him back only so much physically, and he wasn't trying to fight me. He was just pissed off. So was I. I didn't want him to like trash his place though. He went for his TV at one point and I was like "NO THAT'S THE SAME SIZE AS MINE BUT A BETTER BRAND DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE" and he backed off of it. God damn I don't know fucking how or why this happened and it must sound stupid as shit or fake (so what else is new. Maybe you guys should spend some time apart and meet on more neutral terms. You're right to keep your safety net and not spend it so much on frivolous stuff, I can see what he means about give and take but you're right to get serious about that college nest egg you have. Maybe stop getting rides with him, though it is winter in America so that might not be an option. That, or weigh the fuel cost with your friend with how much it takes to call an uber. And unless you're getting some of them, maybe stop buying him smokes? I dunno what that's about, though it's not my place to judge on that. That said he made it very clear that if I was stuck somewhere and needed a ride to never get in with a drunk driver and that under those circumstances I'd get a free pass for doing the smart thing and phoning.
