I've had the head/hair lined with colour for a while but I left the eyes off til now since I wanted to try something more fitting for gsis... so that's a rough sketch&color mockup on the otherwise clean head... tough call, I like it but the old is quite blatantly my age-old high school skill charm I've grown to love&hate

although if I just step back and look at the two, the left looks shockingly accurate of gsis even though really i was just inspired by nana osaki because punk rock lmao

I don't think I'm gonna unlock the flower festival. I think it being more expensive is the game telling you not to bother because all you have is maybe a level 3 toyherb. At least with the cooking contest, there's a chance you could luck into a high level meal from a chest near town.

Though I suppose maybe it's possible to luck into a high level flower from Heinz' daily stock?

Also I found you can potentially get tree seeds early by visiting a stump in the forest.

It's worded poorly, because it makes it sound like you just investigate the stump and you get seeds, but it's not that cut and dry. It's a hidden treasure so you need another party member to suss it out, and then it's a random chance of being a seed or not. So far I've gotten it three times. Two branches and a twinkling tree seed. I've tried a couple times to get the second one in the volcanic jungle, but I'm too weak to withstand many of those monsters attacks and my own monster was finicky and kept getting too distracted (or dead) to let me actually grab it. Also that taught me about the orange and apple trees, lol. Don't think I would've ever noticed them.

Flower Festival isn't actually a competition, it's a dating event... which I think you have to already be dating for

fun fact using L1 and R1 you can access all of your storage from either the shipping box or your other storage. i just used my shipping box to get an item out of my fridge into my inventory

seems very useful considering how ungodly expensive farm furniture is. you probably still need 1 placed somewhere though

you can also use L1 and R1 to swap between the different weapon/crafting categories while crafting, and cooking too once unified

I'm guessing the fertilizer bin in town doesn't affect the Earth Dragon? My fodder up there isn't producing every day like my small patch in the town is, so I'm guessing that's why? Ugh, I don't think I encounter enough weeds per day to keep up with two fertilizer bins. Soil health is a mechanic I could easily do without.

I gotta focus like a whole day on it if I do.... which is seeming the case for a lot of tasks, like last night I really focused on maintenance across all the farm dragons

I'm hoping the iron sickle will be enough to get me to a level 5 crop for a current task. I've got a few things at 3, but that's it.

magnifying glass the greatest, i bought one in my first week and i'm still using the same one

dont forget you can put it on your shield and as long as you have a tool or weapon out it'll function. if you're usually exclusively using a weapon type with 0% shield effectivity (fist or twin sword), you can do what i did and just slap magnifying glass on the level 1 shield and call it a day

there's some sort of bug where if you have monsters collecting fodder, fodder takes an extra day. it gets stuck on 99% for some reason for a day

i always blitz corn and use it as my first mass produced crop for money and soil health. later on you can farm enemies for one of the crystals to give the entire field +64 health and like +6 defense and very later on you can just outright buy those crystals, so it does seem to get easier

I don't have any monsters tending the farm yet.

Also when you say put it on the shield, do you mean using it as an extra ingredient when crafting a shield?

yeah, similar to how you can get 4 accessory effects by adding three accessories as extra ingredients when making the final accessory

i think they'll improve slightly, but the biggest key is getting a higher tier scythe. it seems like scythes have a cap to how far they can upgrade seeds based on tier. gold scythe definitely can improve crops to level 10

what i do is make one 2x2 patch outside of the house my crop improvement square, and douse that square with formulas and greenifers. whenever i get a new crop i'd plant two at first (one to scythe, one to gather), then afterwards i'd scythe and replant one of them

lmao, the plant sword is waaay better than everything else I have available.

But also I totally forgot to start the "harvest a sword flower" request before picking it, so bleh. I'd better go accept the shield one before I forget again.

I got 2nd in the spring festival with a level 2 leak, lol. I saved before the judging to swap to something else if I lost, but I didn't bother (other options were level 4 turnip or spinach, or level 3 potato or... radish? pumpkin? I forget).

plant sword is a very weird weapon, what it actually does is pick a random short sword and copy its stats (I think it also picks random inheritance (the 3 mats added when crafting) material?). i think there's some minor progress checks to make sure you don't get a 5k attack weapon right away, but sowing 20-30 sword seeds is absolutely gonna land you something super op for your current point in the game. plant sword is one of the two ways to easily break the game by midgame

also don't level up plant sword seeds, all it does is raise the starting level and not let you upgrade it

dammit but my OCD wants to level up everything

Oh, so I got really lucky for my first one. It's like 215 attack and 48 m attack. The best short sword I can currently craft before getting silver is the 69a/20ma back scratcher.

already thinking about a cheesy second run where i abuse as many broken things as possible to become a millionaire by the first few days of spring...

The only super cheesy thing like that I'm aware of is Eljse throwing Royal Curries when you're hurt.

And I guess the infinite stone/lumber from the farms to upgrade/buy things quicker.

other cheesy things:

800~ attack power weapons achievable very early on: if you make an item have 150 total levels by using nothing but level 10 materials (6 in the base craft, 9 from upgrades), it gets powerful flat stat bonuses. the key is getting level 10 turnip seeds asap, because they are the cheapest and easiest level 10 ingredients to get. hell level 10 turnip seeds are good filler for anything if you've got open slots; you can make food be 2-4 levels higher by including 3 turnip seeds. after you find that, go do some 3-item recipe (dual blades one was sort of easy iirc) that you have all level 10 mats for and add a ton of seeds

very high level armor/weapons/accessories early on: gift 5 things to villagers and they'll gift you one thing back. notably, Doug does hammers (you can get a 5555 attack power hammer this way, which is more than enough to beat the postgame dungeon), and Terry does accessories. you can get lucky and get something very high level, or worth a lot of money, by gifting them random shit that they don't dislike

this is probably intended behavior, but there's a way to force respawn enemies: equip and unequip a rosary. as long as you leave the gate alive, all spawns will reappear

the Elsje trick is probably the biggest one though, combined with save scumming Crystalabra inventory to get large amounts of wood and stone early

woop spent the day on rigging instead of any RF5, basics done although a couple incomplete (should add a deformer to at hips into the Body Z transformation, plus the mouth movement is just basic open-shut without vowel/frown formation for now)... oh yeah and I forgot to add teeth whoops

... then the grueling tilt transformations to go which I dread the most aaah, and maybe I'll do better on the physics bits with improved understanding in that area

but for now I gotta at least fit in one day of RF5!
