Because if that topic doesn't somehow intervene and the person goes through with it a Karen related to them could sue the site because they knew(not likely) someone was attempting to get help and failed to assist which could be grounds to do it.

OR if someone did respond and say something like "lol do a back flip off of a building" and they did it before the site could intervene they would definitely be held liable, Karen not needed.

Well America has issues with people and their mental health and just like the drug addiction issue and the mass incarceration issue, Americans ignores the problem.

I watched Antonio Brown walk off the field in the Bucs game yesterday while pulling off his jersey and it just said to me that there's something not right with this guy and Tom Brady even touched on that post game.

Instead of offering help, the Bucs cut him and that's not what he needs right now.

We witnessed that with the 76ers Ben Simmons in that he completely spazzed out and shut himself off after the lost to the Hawks in the NBA playoffs last season and he too needs some help.

It's almost like an entire city full of people and people who like that team in other cities hate him because he can't shoot a basketball as well as they like.

He's 25 and to have thousands, if not millions of people hate you and say horrible shit about you on sportcenter, Twitter, instagram, etc. would break any normal man.

Antonio Brown clearly has CTE after that monster concussion he suffered from that cheap shot back in 2016. Not sure what can be done to help him, other than have him stop playing football altogether.

This is the main concern. Because they've committed to moderating the site and removing content like that, they could end up being held liable if they failed to moderate it quickly enough and that was felt to have contributed to somebody's suicide. In practice, they probably would not actually end up being found liable in court unless they were really negligent, but going to court at all is a major hassle, so it's easier to just preempt it by shutting down talk of suicide altogether.

Some of it could just be that they don't trust this community to handle the conversation very well. They probably figure it doesn't make sense to let the conversation fester 'cause even if you do get some encouraging thoughts and prayers there's still bound to be some disgusting replies that could do added harm to an already bad situation.

I don't even think it's all down to culpability (maybe part but I don't think it's the driving force). Just from a general kindness standpoint it's probably the right move (I would hope they try to point the user in the right direction after the modding as well).

I mean GameFAQs wouldn't be the best place to talk about serious things like this anyway. Plenty of other forums offer help for those with suicidal thoughts that would be more beneficial.

It's less to do with the line not being funny (because it still totally is -- although it'd be inappropriate to say in that context) and more to do with people getting modded for it (which is still totally bullshit -- except in that context)

Legal liability. Not just to protect the site but also to protect other users.
A LOT can go wrong very easily and very fast, so it's not allowed here.
Besides, there are hotlines that specialize in this type of thing and they are better qualified.
