even the TIHYDPs are boring now

I remember the beginning of the whole TIHYDP craze. Metal Gear Solid 2 was it? Can't remember the genius behind the concept but I'm sure one of you do.

Haven't watched one in ages, and surprised that people still edit them.

The0utsyder is the main producer of them currently, but a few others make them sporadically. I almost entirely watch old ones cause Phil plays incredibly boring games mostly these days and most of the "hilarious" content revolves around his issues as a terrible person rather than his issues as a terrible gamer, which just doesn't work in that sort of longform content IMO.

Also, I will say that him turning off comments did make TIHYDPs significantly less enjoyable, so victory for him I guess.

Outsyder makes the best TIHYDPs. David Davidson made a fantastic MGS3 one with DragonSlayerVLOGs but besides that, they all range in quality from fantastic to meh.

I like the older THYDP more though, definitely. The best modern stuff is his ones with multi-player stuff like fighting games or shooters. Because no matter how much he changes, he will never NOT get mad af at stuff.

Agreed. I can actually laugh at his failures when he played "Inversion". One of the bosses he really struggled on. He was actually entertaining then, but that was a decade ago...

Phil wants a 15% growth in memberships, 50 members, to hit the goal for the month.

Ridiculous. For a normal person in his position I'd say 25 members would be a reasonable, if high end goal. Of course membership/sub goals seem like a douchy thing in the first place. Asking for 50 members, on the shortest month of the year, in his situation with him being DarksydePhil is just... greed is massively strong. The goal is a viewer's choice event, so he's telling all his ardent fanbase that he will withhold interaction with them if he doesn't manage to entice new viewers. Scummy as shit.

Also he, as he has done since the start of January, complained that youtube hasn't instituted changes they promised (or talked about, can't remember if they actually promised them) would come sometime in the year. Since like the second week of January he has been complaining that youtube haven't talked about stuff like gifted subs yet. His entitlement is insane.

The problem with the membership goal in a nutshell: Phil averages 250 viewers per stream, yet he wants 350 members.

The math just doesn't add up.

The lack of growth is, as always, entirely his own fault. Sure, he's an awful streamer who couldn't retain a new viewer to save his life. But I think the more important factor is that he spent years neglecting his YouTube channel while outright telling his viewers it didn't matter because it was just an archive.

And the sad thing is: he likely will hit the goal. He has a legion of whales that are making alt accounts to sub. They dont mind going bankrupt for Phil.

So in reality, DSP has what? Maybe 50 individuals who pay him monthly to be a member? Or would it be more, since that would mean 200 duplicate/dummy accounts.

For real?! That's just messed up and kind of sad, since if those people have that type of disposal income...imagine how many lives they could help instead of enabling someone who refuses to ever work a real job ever again.

They literally make new accounts and pay for memberships. On Twitch a dude spent over $20k+ to be a mod and he didn't even get a thanks or anything. He still spends money on DSP.

We also have a guy that literally doesn't even watch the streams but, still tips him $25-$50 per stream usually just to "support". He's been doing it for years.

What about planetjeff, the 45 year old man who spent his dead wife's life insurance on dsp?

DSP has reached lows that I never imagined that he'd sink to. Any decent person wouldn't accept the money (the wife's insurance) but that's all DSP apparently cares about.

The truly baffling thing is that these people get nothing out of supporting DSP. There are no perks or benefits. He does not use the money to improve the stream. He will not relent in his begging if extra money comes his way. The money is gone as soon as it comes in, and fuck you if you question where it's all going.

I would be interested in seeing the reaction of a new viewer, and I mean someone who had never even heard of DSP before and was therefore going into the stream with zero expections.

Wow I empathize with that first tweet

I can't remember, but wasn't the tip goal during the vest streak $100 per stream? Back then (which wasn't that long ago), $200 a day was huge for him. Yet now, he's easily averaging more than that each day (not to mention plenty of superchats) and is begging harder than ever. His whales better hope they don't start consistently giving him $300 a day, because then he'll raise the goal and start whining about how $350 a day isn't enough to buy groceries.

Phil admitted that it's "ridiculous" that he needs to make the 150 dollar tips goal each stream and that hitting the 100 dollar one is fine.

Which means that every time he hits the 150 one it is fine the next time he makes only 50 dollars on a stream.

I'm sure he will adjust his behavior to this fact.

DSP still has detractors?! Haven't most of them moved on with their lives? I used to watch a few if them on YouTube who would make fun of DSP, but even they stopped caring about DSP by 2019.

DSP said he was in the top 5 of algorithm showcased streamer to people who searched for dying lights streams on his premiere episode of it.

But that doesn't mean anything, because "who searches for streams on youtube"

I can't blame them, especially the TIHYDP people. Phil is so watered down and self-censored it's boring, even if they compile his fails there's just nothing. Every once in awhile you get some real salt but he also seems to try to avoid games that will challenge him like the plague nowadays.

The only way to get drama out of this lolcow is to actively cause it, which is what a lot of the people on the farms and the people who chargeback etc do.

Phil still fucks up, but not to the extent as he did before. It's the same as wings, people keep touching the poop.

I mostly just watch detractor daily releases.

I'm not in the time zone for his streams and I also really can't be bothered to have set times to engage with laughing at Phil.

Most of the streams I watch that are Phil related are Soma's Let's Tolerate streams, those are always fun times. DarkDavesMirror for live restreams but that soundboard can get super obnoxious sometimes.

Being extremely boring most of the time may have helped chase away some detractors, but it's also a large part of what keeps him from ever growing his channel. I'm pretty sure his real fans would prefer the old DSP. Even at his best, he wasn't very good, but there was at least some passion and a sense of fun.

He is still bad at games, but he is just boring to watch. He just never lets himself go in fear of saying something that might get him banned.

The most interesting bits is when he has a meltdown or goes on a tirade. But in terms of gameplay and rage, it's nothing like the old classics.

The best part is, yesterday someone in chat asked Phil why people should give Phil credit for pulling the plug on games in just 3 days, to which Phil responded: "that has literally never happened."

The person then continued saying that Phil pulled Pokemom, so what is to stop him from pulling Sifu.

And here we are.

His Sifu gameplay looks almost like classic DSP. He isn't good at the game, so it must be terrible. Everything sucks. The camera is bad. He didn't do that! It's unfair. It's poorly designed. Fuck this!

It's too bad no one could've predicted he would hate this game and be terrible at it. Oh, wait, tons of detractors predicted that exact thing.

Can anyone explain to me who that video is of that guy wearing the skeleton mask with a distorted voice is of? I see it in a lot of TIHYDP, and in the sifu video he's dancing on the superchat.

Just for the stream, it looks like. Given how salty he was over the first stream (and what are presumably the easiest parts of the game), it's possible we'll get a full ragequit at some point.
