We've got to live with it somehow. I just hope that the medical experts stay ahead of this virus war so we have better vaccines with as little risk as this one or better for the future. Might be offensive to say but 'normies' truly can't handle what it takes to get rid of a virus like this. They can't stand staying at home for long periods of time. Well also money, rent, medical needs and food is a thing and the world is very greedy so even base needs will never be taken care of for people during deadly times. Though essential workers are needed and forced to work no matter what (Grocery store workers and grocery deliverers, along with medical professionals, people who maintain electricity/water/etc at the least).

If I could, I really would stay home. I need to go grocery shopping and go to the post office to pick up packages though. I really wish that rural areas could get the same privileges as cities.

The problem is, it would take universal GLOBAL lockdown. Otherwise you'd need to close borders forever to keep it from just coming back again.

The more realistic scenario is a smallpox analogue, where universal vaccination helped stop it. But we already see how well that's going.

Covid is just the newest Flu. It will take the Flu's place, and we will get Covid shots every year in place of Flu shots.

The difference is, this new Flu has a better chance actually kill you if you are under 50.

Not going away for a long, long time. Much like groups of losers who are created to be offended about everything, the people at the top who are profiting from this are making too much money to let go. Also, it allowed to politicians and authorities to pass laws and give themselves the kind of control they've wanted for a while now. Do you really think they'll just let go of all that?

When its persistence is no longer profitable, corporate overlords will seek at last to either end it or let it go like some trend that outlived its usefulness, depending on the cause of the decline in profits. Either way, the rest of us lose.

Honestly other than having to wear a mask at work, everything is pretty much back to normal where I live (Hampton Roads, VA). When I go to the store, I don't see anyone wearing a mask. I don't wear one either, but I've been vaccinated. Unfortunately, not wearing a mask makes people think I'm (gasp!) a Republican.

When I went up North to Maine, it was legally very strict to have a mask and stay home. In the more populated cities, you couldn't even enter a buulding without being masked. But in the rural areas where my friends live, it's business as usual. No masks, no social distancing or anything.

It will never end because bad things will always happen and never go away while good things will never happen. If they happen, then it's too good to be true and will be gone right away and replaced with something much worse.

It's also far more transmissible than the flu is, I have been in the same room as someone with the flu and not gotten it before even without a flu shot. Every new variant of Covid is far more transmissible than the last, we take 0 precautions against the flu except for some getting flu shots and Covid has been far more prevalant with masks+social distancing+vaccines.

I think one thing that would help tremendously is having easy at home tests for Covid. If you could know with a 99% accuracy chance if you have Covid at home that would help immensely. The same way we have Pregnancy home tests which are pretty damn accurate, and don't require a doctor's visit.
