Do you agree with him that video games are the problem with the american men not wanting to work?

Republican Eggplant Josh Hawley has doubled down on his attack on male VIDEO GAMERS and calls on the american man to getting back to their responsibility as the male gender and to give up PORN while they're at it so they can make God PROUD by being responsible!!

He said "Spending your time on video games, spending your time watching porn online while doing nothing is not good for you, your family, God or this country"

He said the left is to blame for weak american men today who are wasting their time in front of the tv playing mindless video games and watching porn on their devices rather than going out in the world to be real men such as working, hunting, spending time with family, making a difference in society etc..

He sat down with Mike Allen from Axios' HBO program and was asked about that remark

Hawley said after years of being told that their manhood is the problem, moer and more men are withdrawing into the enclave of idleness and porn and video games and said they need the kind of men that make republics possible

Allen asked why "masculinity" is such a big issue and said "Well, what i think what the left is doing is attacking America. They're saying that America is systemically oppressive, and men are systemically responsible"

He then asks to define a man and Hawley says "Well, a man is a father, a man is a husband, a man is somebody who takes responsibility. As conservatives, we've got to call men back to responsibility. Have you seen how many men aren't working and thus playing video games and watching pornography while also not getting married and having a family?"

Allen pushed back asking if he what he meant was saying "literally" and what liberals are doing causing men to play more Donkey Kong and watching porn.

Hawley doubled down and said liberal policy for years created the perceived problem of the male gender and said there are 16 million men not doing anything and part of it is their own responsibility but part of it is liberals killing jobs forcing them to be fatherless and playing video games all die while on their tax dollars keeping them afloat.

Hawley said video games for years have been turning men away from their responsibility of being a "real man" and if they don't turn this around soon they will have millions more men who will stop contributing to society and sitting on their lazy butts who have no worth to society.

Do you think video games are the problem for causing american men to be lazy and not work?

Even then, it goes beyond that. The cost of living is rising so fast, there's no fucking point.
Housing is going up 20% a year now. Even a 10% raise would be falling behind.
We allow the rich to concentrate and pool ever more money and buy up property as an alternative stock portfolio, and the rest of us get priced out.
Higher wages are a start, but the inequality is way bigger on the other end. Until it's balanced out, why bother? Money isn't an end, it's a means to an end. the stuff we use money to obtain is becoming more expensive than a salary increase can make up for. Do something about THAT!

Considering that 90% of the "inequality" argument comes down to unrealized gains, it's hard to take those arguments seriously because it's a pretty clear smokescreen.

...having an "active social life" and "working out" aren't surrogates for gainful employment, though. At best, working out is a productive hobby, but it's still a hobby. (Granted, Hawley has hunting on his list, which is *also* a hobby, unless you're using it to feed yourself or selling the meat.)

It may be very surprising, but I'm guessing my net worth is around half of Josh Hawleys (and most people in congress actually). My Salary alone is 2/3 of what he makes. If I worked for a SV company, I'd probably make more and have a higher net worth, but that kind of career doesn't interest me. Also he's only like 7? years older than me. When I am his age I will definitely have over $1m net worth if the current trajectory holds.

Why is it that all of these 'twits' like Hawley obsess over what constitutes a 'real' man even though they've never done a hard day's work in their life? I'd love to see a video of Hawley having to chase down guests at the rental car agency where I work like many of the male agents do (some of whom play video games, etc. in their free time) when not busy with other activities (including doing charity work at the local food pantry, etc.). Hawley really needs to end up having to get a 'real' job by getting fired from his 'pretend' job as a representative.

What is it billionaire apologists love saying? "If you don't like it, don't work there"? Who could possibly have guessed that they were saying that under the assumption that nobody would actually take them up on that offer? It's almost like they just wanted people to stop calling them our for being terrible people.

I mean, "hunting" in the modern era just means "point gun at animal and pull trigger." A certain degree of physical prowess is needed to handle larger corpses if you're butchering them for meat, but if you're just hunting for sport and leave the corpses where they fall, it's not exactly physically demanding.

Except people are still working. Just not in terrible jobs that pay a sub-living wage. If you give people the choice between working hard in miserable jobs to barely scrape by, or scraping by while not having to do that, of course they're going to choose the latter. Employers should have to work to provide competitive wages and working conditions to attract people to them, rather than relying on the blatant coercion of "your alternative is starving to death" to get away with poverty wages and abject mistreatment. If they can't, they deserve bankruptcy, because they're nothing more than parasites exploiting the desperation of the working class.
