Did I hear rightly that they're changing how dungeon XP is rewarded in Endwalker? Wondering if that will at all help the level cap dungeons - I certainly hope so since there are so many amazing dungeons in that roulette and it kind of sucks that there's so little reason to run it.

Oh, also Frontline Roulette gives tons of EXP regardless, but your team winning definitely gives more which is....frustrating, since it's basically a crap shoot. 80% of the people there don't give a shit about the PvP itself afterall, they're just there for the EXP.

They're making it so the EXP is almost all dumped out at the end instead of through the mobs. Sounds like it will fundamentally have no effect (though the numbers are getting squished there just like stats are).

I'm pretty sure you can't though I've also not done a sidequest since ShB came out so I could be misremembering.

Just go try it and see?

I'll do one to check, yeah. Thinking of filling up the log, doing them all, then turning them in on Reaoer since they're all synched in Shadowbringers.

On that same note, going to try it with the Pixies. If that works, then I can do 3 Pixie quests on Thursday, not turn them in until I've logged into Endwalker Friday morning, switch to Reaper, turn them in before 9AM, and then get 3 more after the 9AM turnover.

Correct on both fronts it seems. My worry was that the quest level would synch up to 80 after I accepted it, but it stays at 70+. Really about to knock out 29 sidequest after not having done one in 1000 hours lol.

Pixie situation is not a big deal, though, since as long as I do them before 9AM I can still get in two sets on launch day.

The only worry at that point is just how long the login queue actually ends up being...

If you're not following closely enough to realize you can get on 4 days earlier, great, please only log in on Dec 7th after the initial rush is over.

Just make sure to only do 29 since you have to accept the actual Reaper job quest itself!

You can turn in any ShB area sidequest, even if you're lower than it's level. I'm pretty sure I have done this before on alt jobs.

Mostly because the quest's "level" counts as 70 for all of them, so you can't be lower than them.

Yeah, every ShB quest is 70*, even as a level 80 character.

Speaking of which, just finished doing all 29 quests. That certainly didn't take long.

Already completed a Wondrous Trails log to turn in.

Last prep to take care of will be setting up as many challenge logs as I can to be one step away from completion between Tuesday and Thursday.

The latter. There's definitely not a ton of EXP here.

However, since the EXP scales with your level for ShB quests, I assume that the boost to sidequest EXP they say they're adding to sidequests will apply to these on turn in as well, so will likely be slightly better than it looks now.

What exactly is the release schedule? Is there a prepatch? When should I expect my Summoner to change?

The servers will go down on Thursday around 4:00AM EST and will go back up Friday around 4:00AM EST, at that point everything will have changed. Before that, nothing.

Oh shit, guess it's between Tuesday and Wednesday that I have to do the challenges then.

So you could do that + WT turn in + pixie dailies to get one of them to 71 most likely so you can start running dungeons/Bozja if you're power leveling Reaper or Sage.

I'll probably do it just to get the kickstart on Sage and then just do roulettes with them as I do MSQ on Machinist, though.

You can do two sets of Pixies if you get up early enough in the morning! That's like half a level itself at 70.

If you wanna set up weekly challenge log EXP you just need to make sure you're super careful about it, because those are automatic instead of turn ins. Don't want any popping until you're on Reaper or Sage.

Yeah I'm leveling Warrior before EW comes out so I'm not going to bother with that. Not mainline leveling one of the new jobs anyway.

But I'm planning on being on right as the servers go up so I'll probably do the 2 sets of Pixie Dailies though.

Oh, and I think everyone probably has done this, but make sure you have all of your Healer and Maiming Stormblood Poetics gear stored away or in you gear bag so you can equip Reaper and Sage right away with gear that will carry you to 80.

Other than the belt and earrings of course.

I'm not necessarily planning to level either of them right away, but it's nice to know that 70-71 bump is taken care.

I am looking forward to Sage, but Scholar is just fine for now and I'd rather hit 80 asap rather than spend the first day catching up.

Even if you aren't planning on leveling right away, if you're a Bozja leveling person you can't go into it until 71, so good to have it there with minimal effort. With proper setup you can hit 71 in under 10 minutes just from turn ins.

And if you are going hard then make sure you have a cleared out wondrous trail book before Tuesday so you can grab another one right after turning it in.

Oh yeah someone on reddit reminded people that if you're on the free trial, you proooobably won't be able to play for awhile come next Friday since subbed players get queue priority and people are going to be playing like mad for at least a week or so after launch.

Oh right.

If I were to queue up a bunch of ShB sidequests, is there any partiucular area's quests that are worth more exp?

All ShB sidequests are synched, all give the same EXP based on your level.

Probably the easiest to take quests at open areas you can fly. I took all the ones in The Crystarium and Eulmore though to clean those maps up.

I will say if you're planning on mostly doing dungeons, don't have gear for 75-79 or so, and haven't done them yet, might wanna do the sidequests in the second half of Ahm Araeng or Kholusia so that you have upgrades to the Scaeven gear from the lootboxes.

It's not super necessary but also like, if you're gonna do the sidequest thing anyway, why not?

I have only ever really done bard stuff but I think I am going to be a Dragoon for awhile in end walker just because the job set is so spiffy

Means you'll be geared up for Reaper, too!

In my hyperspeed leveling process, Dragoon was definitely my favorite of the jobs I hadn't already capped. The rotation just feels extremely comfortable to me. Positionals are easy to keep track of.

I'll still take Samurai for a primary Melee DPS right now, though, unless Reaper takes it's place.
