Post doings, glamours, et cetera: I'm mostly just shooting for the HW beast tribes while slow-leveling DRK and NIN at this point.

Do they usually add Gold Saucer items when a new expansion comes out? Can almost afford the Cactus finally but not sure if I should expect new stuff to hit I should wait for.

Rolling through 5.4 today. Probably going to try to do some raid story catchup this weekend; my wife will be out of town so I'll have some extra time available. Haven't decided which one to do first though. Still need to do all of Omega and Eden, the second and third parts of Ivalice, all of Void Ark, and haven't even started the Nier quest chain. Oh, and Coil T9 and beyond. Almost forgot about that.

Also looked up what I still need to do for the platinum if I want to stick with my goal of getting that before moving to the PS5 version.

Finished Potd floor 200 yesterday. Pretty much done until Endwalker at this point other than whatever windows come up for the 3 fish in the game I haven't caught yet.

T and O are the ones to prioritize before Endwalker.

The final Ivalice raid is my favorite as far as actual content goes, beat Alliance raid in the game I think. Story still sucks just like the rest of though lol.

And if you haven't finished Werlyt trials post Shadowbringers...that's the good shit.

Shout out to the streamer Sebbywebztv for finally finishing through Shadowbringers, he did the entire thing with voice acting turned off and dramatically read off the every piece of dialogue from start to finish, lol.

Now he's watching all the cutscenes voiced for comparison and I almost wish he wouldn't.

Highly recommend doing Eden. Coil is also highly recommended but T9 is a pain to do solo, try getting a buddy (or 2, or 3) to help avoid the headache. Omega is neat. The 24-mans are whatever unless you're a big FFT or Nier/Drakengard fan. Don't feel bad about skipping them for now because they're a time sink. However, they do have some cool bosses, glam, and cosmetics.

My pre-EW to-do list is almost finished - I have a few more coffee biscuits to turn in, the static is running maps on Sunday, I need to clean out my inventory and retainers, and if I get bored before the 19th I might farm out the Sophia and Zurvan birds and get the firebird mount. Other than that I'm in full hibernation until early access.

The only thing I have left that I could do is finish the Bozja story. I stopped after the second big dungeon, before the second open world area. And I hear the story is...not good, so I feel no pressure to do it now while I have other games to get out of the way before SMT5 and Endwalker ruin my life further.

Id love to clean out my and my retainers inventory of armor and weapons but I dont know what stuff I should keep or toss!!! What this gray armor piece is something I can never get again, or what if this weapon for a job I dont have leveled is actually super hard to get???

Frankly, you're through the worst of it. Zadnor has glimmers of good because characters worth a damn actually get some chance in the spotlight (Lyon and Bajsaljen specifically, though Menenius gets better too). It might have been good overall if the garbage from before weren't weighing it down.

I'm at the part with "finish 15 level 70 dungeons/Castrum/Dalraida/extra runs of HoH" before the next upgrade.

The best level 80 gear for every job other than the relic weapon will be for available for regular poetics once Endwalker drops. You can get rid of everything that you aren't keeping for glamour.

During the leveling process for other jobs you can basically keep on the previous expansion's poetics gear for the entire 10 level period as well. Basically no reason to keep ANYTHING other than poetics gear other than for glam, lol.

The real issue of inventory management is the crafter's dilemma: what if the new recipes use old mats??? (they always do, but which ones will be worth keeping is a more mysterious question)

That all makes logical sense. I should try on all the non-poetic stuff I got, and if I dont think it looks good I should get rid of it

Ironically if you've got jobs to level, the only gear worth keeping is the sub level 50 stuff. All too easy to go into Aurum Vale with a level 21 weapon on accident, lol.

Started Shadowbringers last Saturday and just beat Titania. Trying to do the mental calculation of how comfortably I'll be able to finish the MSQ ahead of EW... if at all! I certainly won't have time for the usual few weeks I chill in post-expansion pecking at all the endgame content, that's for sure.

If you just beat TITANIA after starting Saturday, then at that pace you will certainly finish 5.0, but patches may be another story. Wouldn't take TOO much acceleration, though.

The only post release content of Shadowbringers outside of the MSQ that I think may possibly have relevance moving forward is Werlyt, the Trials questline. The actual Eden raid series certainly matter for Shadowbringers characters, but can't see it being even remotely relevant moving forward to Endwalker.

And then the Nier raids are...the Nier raids.

If they do any of it, it seems to just only ever be Omega. I've seen a few do that.

So in my armor menu, items with the little paper note thing on the bottom right means its in one of my gear set lists right? Then I guess I can't empty my armory chest as much as I'd like cause its gonna be halfway full of just that stuff lol

Only two I can think of is Annie and Yuna. Annie makes a point of doing everything and there was no way Yuna was skipping a Tactics inspired raid.

Although Yuna might have skipped Four Lords.

Honestly this is the correct move. I would never tell someone to do all that crap before Shadowbringers. 4 Lords feels like filler and the fights aren't even that good (Suzaku is the best, but duty finder hates it), and the best part of its story is Alphinaud buying a sword. The Ivalice raids are great (but again, duty finder hates and is Not Good at them) but the writing is some of the worst in the entire game. Omega really is the only 4.x postgame content I'd suggest to do before moving on. It's easy, has cool fanservice, and ties directly into Shadowbringers lore

One of my FC-mates just got Necromancer and it sounds like an absolute nightmare

I tried a few times to get the achievement for solo floor 100, but in my furthest attempt I fucked up on the floor 90 boss.

As far as my goals go I finished collecting all of the TT cards quite a while ago and was hoping to finish getting all of the (non-ocean fishing) big fish, but Ive been busy trying to finish my thesis so it looks like Im gonna end up three fish short

I think the thing that sucks the most is that every attempt requires several hours of soulless grinding until you get up to the actual challenging parts (not that you cant die on the easy parts too as I managed to prove several times in my few half-assed attempts). Like if you could start from floor 100 with a full set of pomanders I think it would be much less soul-sucking.
