65 y/o Michelle Vitullo from Ohio who REFUSES to get vaccinated for religious and medical reasons was DENIED a life saving transplant from her DAUGHTER because of it as she desperately needs to SURVIVE but the hospital says she needs the shot because the transplant would weaken her immune system!!

Michelle sobbed uncontrollably talking to the media about going to the Cleveland Clinic for her stage 4 liver disease since 2019 and at that end stage, the liver is permantnly damaged and many of its cells turn into scar tissue

But she refused the vaccine for religious reasons and fears it could damage her health with that stance now derailing her life

Despite this she is still refusing it and would rather have her trust in GOD than the DEVIL'S MEDICINE but is hoping another hospital that isn't implementing this draconian policy take her. She said Government has no right to tell her what she has to put in her body and doesn't understand why the world doesn't see what is happening around them.

She was excited when her daughter, Angela Green was an exact match and doctors were set to remove part of her liver and use it to save her mother when it was called off 2 weeks before the scheduled apointment because they found out both were unvaccinated.

They released a statement that it began requiring all organ donors to get vaccinated and said "For the living donor, preventing COVID-19 infection around the time of a surgical operation is crucial. Medications taken after an organ transplant weaken a person's immune response. Serious complications of COVID-19 are most likely to develop in these individuals who have weakened immune systems"

Their entire family, who are also NOT vaccinated say they are now facing the prospect of losing Michelle

Jim, her husband said sobbingly "It's not right. This is wrong. How can you do that to somebody?. They had us sign an agreement that we would live within one hour of the Cleveland Clinic, i had to quit my job because of all the visits, ended up sleeping literally hundreds of days in my car in the arport there because of the expense."

They all oppose the vaccine AND mask mandate and said to do this to them is a big mistake and against their beleifs who say they had adverse reactions before from vaccines like blood clotting and heart problems

In Stage 4 liver disease, the liver may become enlarged or shrink, liver cells are replaced by scar tisue and the liver cannot function properly

Cirrhosis can be fatal and is found in the final stage before transplant is necessary. It is responsible for storing glycogen which the body needs for energy and making bile that helps digest fats

The mother and daughter broke down in tears as Michelle said "I don't think they do care. I feel bad because my grandkids, they say, grandma, we're praying for you to get better'. It breaks my heart because now i have to tell them i may not get better"

This happened to another woman, with stage 5 renal failure who was denied a transplant over vaccinations in Colorado where Leilani Lutali and her christian donor, Jaimee Fougner were denied of the same reason and now she faces death if she doesn't get it done..

Jim says these people are HEARTLESS and would rather watch their patients die and families in pain because of some draconian policy like vaccinations and say this is unfair.

You are required to follow procedure before receiving an organ transplant. You will be required to take immunosuppressants for the rest of your life so that the kidney is accepted. You are REQUIRED to be vaccinated against common diseases prior to a transplant, otherwise you're FAR FAR FAR more likely to get fucked by a virus post-transplant. Do you advise the doctor on what variety of anesthetic to use (aside from allergy exceptions that THEY have established) during brain surgery? No, you let them do what they need to do to ensure a SUCCESSFUL OPERATION.

a) INCIDENCE RATE is not HOSPITALIZATION RATE, nor is it DEATH RATE.

b) Ireland is NOT at herd immunity, they are at 74.6% for an overall vaccination rate. Waterford's overall rate is at 97.6% with a pop of 53,504. That's still nearly 1,300 people unvaccinated in the population, and that's more than enough to foster an outbreak that will bring them up to #2 in the country.

c) do you think not vaccinating would be smarter? what's your solution? cast doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and then...what's the end goal?

A thing about the Ireland... that "highest rate in country" or whatever is an incidence rate of about 405. The UK as a whole has an incidence rate of about 450

I mean, that's still not GOOD by any means... the US is at about 180, but in context they're still better than the rest of the UK. Ireland as a whole is at about 245.

Canada is at about 67.

Mexico, on the other hand, is an absolute viral chad with an incidence rate of 20... yeah, that's exceptionally good.

All things being equal, sure. Given enough existing cases and public health restrictions being lifted before those cases go away, though, it's certainly possible to have outbreaks - even significant ones - in well-vaccinated areas. If you look at Ireland's overall case count figures, their double-vax rate really started to pick up around the beginning of July, while their fourth wave really started to pick up around mid-July and has levelled out at a moderate case load that really hasn't receded. Without looking into it in great detail, my interpretation is that that suggests that they used vaccination rates as a metric for lifting restrictions, rather than case load. The vaccination rate has kept the case load from spiking (the highest 7-day average in these fourth/fifth waves is less than 30% of the peak seen in their third wave), and hospitalizations/deaths are way down, but vaccines alone are not going to get rid of an existing case load, so it's been able to persist. I would also guess that it's been fuelled by tourists looking to take advantage of the weaker restrictions, but I don't know what their policies are in that regard and I can't say for sure.

Ireland doesn't indicate that the vaccine doesn't work (if anything, you can look at how low their cases are compared to their third wave despite having fewer other restrictions in place, and that tells you they're working), but it is a cautionary tale against relying exclusively on it. It remains important to maintain and enforce restrictions - especially for unvaccinated people - until case numbers come under control, rather than assuming the vaccine will handle the issue.
