idk, mosquitos still seem more likely. Mosquitos kill a million people per year. Worldwide murders are supposed at 400k and, even if you doubled that for wars, you'd still come up short.

People of course. Other animals usually kill people to defend themselves/young, their territory, for food, or because they're sick.

People are animals that kill others usually because they're assholes and psychopaths, and the ones who try to defend themselves/loved ones are punished.

But that doesnt mean they kill them most humans. I think Mosquitoes have actually killed more humans then humans have Could be wrong, but it seems more likely

If you're saying creature instead of animal then it becomes a lot harder to defend mosquitoes as an answer. The death-causing agent would be the parasites carried by the mosquito, such as Plasmodium, which are non-plant non-animal non-fungi eukaryotes (a protist).

Same for Chagas (kissing bug) and African sleeping sickness (tsetse fly). The animals are just vectors for the disease-causing protists.

jokes on more than half of you. the correct answer is a MOSQUITO which kills nearly a MILLION people a year sucking on peoples blood to survive as humans only intentionally kill other humans at nearly 400,000 a year as it only counts intentional murders not unintentional, accidents or rightful killings.

Uhh humans are the only things that are capable of "intentional murder" otherwise we would be putting animals on trial

I looked it up a little.

The top 5 are on the list.

Mosquitoes (#3) killed the most

Humans (#7) is in second place

Dogs (#4) is next

Snakes (#1) takes the next spot

And surprisingly, freshwater snails (#8) is in fifth place. That was a surprise to me, tbh

Some more of this list is there, as well

Objectively it's 3.

However even that 'objectively' has caveots as it's only a carrier for disease, not the actual disease itself and a lot of that is speculation since we only recently learned how lethal they were. Plus there's a lot of question as to what constitutes 'killed'. Like, with humans, the mongols intentionally spread the plague but they both never intended for it to get as massive as it did (though they probably weren't exactly disappointed) or understood one bit about what they were actually doing beyond 'throw sick body at enemy, make enemy sick'. If we restrict humans to actual 'intended to at least hurt them' though than mosquito's win handily. If we, instead, count every death in which a human played a part than humans win; but there's just so many situations where it's 'guy was driving while it was dark out and didn't see the kid until it was too late' and the like that it's... a really dis-ingenuous representation.

Only because the definition of murder is that of a human killing another human. Animals kill humans on purpose, but they get put down, no reason to put animals on trials when they can't communicate.

Eh, I'd forgotten about accidental deaths since I was thinking about murders and wars (and wars aren't in that murder statistic), but -- all in -- even with accidental deaths and wars on top of murders, mosquitos should still lead the pack

An "interesting" (or rather stupid) interpretation but, outside of COVID season, the answer probably wouldn't change anyway.

Why wouldn't unintentional human-human killings count? Mosquitoes don't intend to kill humans, after all. If anything, mosquitoes would prefer humans to survive, since they're only a food source while they're alive, plus humans wouldn't be trying nearly as hard to kill mosquito populations if they were just a pest and not the vector for some of the world's deadliest diseases.

at the very least, diseases spread by humans should count too. I know in wars, more people die from diseases than from the fighting.
