With proper junctioning, it doesn't really matter who you use, so if you hate Zell, you won't lose that much by not using him.

But ideally, you'd use him a lot because of Armageddon Fist.

Lulu gets outclassed very early on. Black Mage Kimahri does more magic damage than her when you get the +20% Magic Halberd at Djose. Yuna has the highest magic stat in the game, so she does more damage than Lulu as soon as you give her your black magic spheres.

I know I already said Anise because I literally never keep her in my active party, but how are we measuring Tales characters? Never keeping them in your active party, or never actually controlling them? Because if it's the latter, then in Symphonia I only ever use Lloyd, in Abyss I only use Guy and Natalia except when forced to use Luke, and in Legendia I only use Chloe except when forced to use Senel.

Hugh Thompson in Phantasy Star 2. I saw no point to use him whatsoever. I had no trouble taking down any biomonsters.

Hahn Mahlay in Phantasy Star 4. He's not in your party for that long. You do have the choice to have him back near the end of the game but why bother? He's so outclassed by other members unless you want some challenge.

Gobi in Breath of Fire. I would never use him in battle, not on land anyway.

Mogu in Breath of Fire as well, though I heard he can be effective with the right stuff. I never bother with him and he only exists for his field ability (same with Gobi).

Gobi can be fused with Karn. Do you not use Karn's fusions?

I throw Mogu in when Nina doesn't need to heal since he does more damage than her and BOF all characters get EXP and you can rotate as needed.
