He's not in your party for that long. You do have the choice to have him back near the end of the game but why bother? He's so outclassed by other members unless you want some challenge. Gobi in Breath of Fire. I would never use him in battle, not on land anyway. Mogu in Breath of Fire as well, though I heard he can be effective with the right stuff.
