What household items do you buy in bulk?

I tried to keep toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates (for the times when I get lazy and don't wanna do dishes), lightbulbs, and deodorant.

I don't buy any of those in.bulk, unless you count a single large pack of paper towels or toilet paper as "bulk"

Buying in bulk means buying multiple packages.

All of the above and more. I do a lot of shopping at Costco and Sam's Club.

The bulk item I buy the most of is bottled water. I will buy 2 to 4 packages of 40-45 bottles at a time. I go through a package in roughly 2 weeks, though I'm not using quite as much now since I'm working full time and they have filtered water at work.

No it doesn't lol. It just means buying a lot of one item. A lot can come in one package.

Disinfectant wipes. I'd say toilet paper, but somehow I got through less of it than most people (and I can't even say how or why). The disinfectant wipes, however, are something I go through fairly often, especially ever since the pandemic came along and I decided I wanted my tiny apartment to at least be a haven away from all sorts of pathogens out there.

Pretty much everything on that list except toothpaste. Toothpaste can technically expire and it tastes like shit when it does.

Edit: And I guess I don't buy batteries as well, since I prefer rechargeable. I have like 20 of those so I never am without batteries though.

TP, paper towel, batteries (not that I go through many batteries), and garbage bags, from that list. For toothpaste, laundry detergent, shampoo, and soap, I tend to get larger packages that last quite a while, but not large enough to really call it "bulk" (mostly, I'm basing this assessment on whether or not I buy them at Costco). Lightbulbs, I don't go through quickly enough to warrant keeping more than 1-2 spares of each size/shape around, so I almost always purchase them either individually or in smaller packages.

Nothing really

I'd buy up emergency related things like water and batteries if we got warning of impending disaster, but that'll never happen

I live out in the country surrounded by farms and our only source of water is a well. I don't trust the water enough to drink it. I used to refill large 3 gallon bottles but the store I did that at has closed. There are other stores that have refill stations, but it costs almost as much as buying buttloads of small bottles.

That water is likely way cleaner than most city water. And of course, a simple filter never hurts either. Though I'm positive it already goes through one or two before it reaches your sink.

It's our own personal well, not the rural water department. An RWD hookup costs over $10,000, and that doesn't count the cost of running a pipe from the edge of the property to the house (about 1,000 feet or so). The only filter we have is a sediment filter, and it doesn't do that great of a job.

But I'm talking about neighbors near you who have safe municipal water.

Why can't you talk to them about filling your water there?

There are plenty of solutions other than "go through tons of plastic water bottles"
