Its more worrisome to me than pleasant. Ill fight it just to try and exert some control and inevitably I wake up later in an unfamiliar room with no understanding of how much time has passed. I know its also possible I could just not wake up which is a scary thought.

It absolutely is not. You feel like dog shit for hours after awakening.

I've done it three times. Two were fine, but one was a pretty major surgery and I felt like absolute shit afterward. I think that it's the combination of the anesthetic with the pain meds that really messed me up.
.
It is interesting to experience losing consciousness so quickly and easily. I'm a chronic insomniac and sleep has always been like fighting a neverending cold war with my own body, lol.

No, I had a bad experience with anesthesia once. When I came to, I felt really weird and started puking up blood cause I had surgery done on my nose. It was not fun at all.

When I had my jaw surgery I remember that my first thought on waking up was that I had to pee. I didnt actually have to pee, it was just that my urethra was gauged out from the catheter that had been yanked out. No fun at all.

definitely can't say I like it aside from being a unique and interesting experience. one second you're going under, the next you're somewhere else trying to wake up from an impossibly deep sleep. and then when you do wake up, you're probably in pain and can't move.

I don't even remember going under the only time I have been. They gave me some medicine to relax beforehand and that shit worked, cuz all I remember if them rolling me towards the doors to leave pre-op, and waking up later with the doctor talking to my family.

With my jaw surgery, I really did have to pee (I wasn't catheterized), so the nurse brought a jug that I'd guess was about 1-2 litres. I was genuinely concerned that it was going to overflow before I ran out of pee. They may have overdone the IV fluids >.>

I really like it!

The last time I had surgery (for having my wisdom teeth extracted) for some reason they started me off with laughing gas before they started to anesthetize me. It was amazing

Definitely not. I've had colonoscopies and gastroscopies and I've refused even to be sedated for the procedure. I'd rather walk out of the treatment room on my own two feet as soon as it's finished.

Yeah mine was my upper jaw that the way broke into three pieces and moved forward. Crazy part was that when they made the cuts, they moved my nerves up and out of the way so there was minimal pain. They gave me child strength ibuprofen afterwards.

Unfortunately Im part of the less than 10% who dont fully regain feeling but that only affects my gums on mg upper jaw. On the plus side I didnt have to get my jaw wired shut. Just a liquid diet for 6 weeks.

I just had a colonoscopy last month. They gave me propofol to be sedated. Literally knocked out within seconds. Next thing I know I'm awake and done with the procedure. Was out for a half hour and didn't remember a thing. Felt amazing afterwards, like I had a full night's sleep.

A few years back I got a really bad bacterial infection that caused my right lung to be compressed to 10% of its normal size. I was in excruciating pain for almost a week because of gross incompetence on the part of the hospital ER. For a week I couldn't sleep and I barely ate anything. I finally found a doctor who would actually look at the X-rays and I was scheduled for surgery first thing the next morning.

The last thing I can remember was meeting with the anesthesiologist. He tried to put in a spinal block but it didn't work. I don't remember anything at all after that. I suspect I must have passed out.

The next thing I remember was waking up in a hospital bed, the worst of the pain was gone, I was covered in tubes and wires, and I was incredibly thirsty. They wouldn't let me drink anything, but they did let my spouse feed me ice chips.

I got both jaws done. Top came forward 6 mm, bottom went back 4 mm. I had three cuts on top and two on the bottom. Wired shut for 3 weeks on a full liquid diet (discovery: Everything blends if you add enough broth; I only lost 5 pounds), limited to soft foods for 6 weeks after that. I also didn't have too much pain because the corresponding nerves were severed. When I was getting settled into my hospital room, the nurse asked me to rate my pain, then did a massive double-take when I said "I dunno, 1, maybe 2?", which was more hilarious than I was able to appreciate in my anaesthesia-addled state. I still went through a ton of children's tylenol (because no solids) over the next couple weeks to keep it that way, but it honestly wasn't as bad as "my face was in 7 pieces" makes it sound. I had a prescription for Dilaudid that I never actually filled.

I also ended up with some nerve damage. They struggled with the nerve on the bottom left, so that part of my lip was totally numb afterwards. It was really weird having it grow back, since there was a point where holding water in my left cheek made me feel like I was drooling (since the nerve ending was in the wrong spot). I never did fully regain sensation in that part of my lip, though. It's mild, but kind of unfortunate. Something about how the nerves got moved around in my upper jaw has also meant that I can now force myself to sneeze by rubbing my tongue on the roof of my mouth the right way, which is weird, but harmless.

My experience with anesthesia is that I ceased to exist for a while then woke up feeling very cozy. I wouldn't mind doing that part more frequently. The only down side was that I spent a month in the hospital and had to learn how to walk again.

Put under? Not really. Had it twice I can remember and once I felt like I was looking down on myself before the lights went out. I don't like not being in control of my own body. Plus the thought of waking up during surgery or even never waking up is a scary one. I don't mind local anaesthesia though save for the numbness that lasts longer than needed.

Compared to being awake under procedures, yeah. But in general there's too much that can go wrong.
