That last part is the most important. The game has a system built into it that detects how you're playing and figures out which upgrades will probably be the most useful for you. If you pet Cerberus before a run, it's more likely to give them to you. If not, it's less likely.

I have it on Switch. Listen to it with some proper headphones- the sound design and voicework is probably the best part of the whole game.

not sure about trophies, I know you cant turn it on if you have Hell mode active

But they really tried to leave it there without downsides for people that want a less stressful experience while playing

Ive been on a trophy kick lately and really just wanted to Platinum this fast, but honestly its so enjoyable that Ill probably ride it out for a while.

I was mainly wondering because I didnt know if Id burn out before I got all the trophies and wanted a back up

I didnt look at the Switch price but for the $25 I paid on PS4 its one of the best games Ive bought in a while

I play a lot of roguelikes but Hades was the first one that I actually felt compelled to fully complete

just all of it ends up being so good, the visuals, the gameplay, the soundtrack, the story and the characters, its just all so well crafted and fun to experience

i just faced thanatos, i got 20 kills, he got 0

i'm just supposed to beat him by 15 or more

Using the rail and got a bunch of stuff that made the special stronger. Killed the hydra heads in 2 shots it was nifty

If any game is worth it's asking price it's Hades, even at the $25 price tag most that play the game get a huge amount of hours out of it.

For a while I was so transfixed on the game I was putting in 4-5 hours a day easily. I ended up with 87 hours after a few weeks, and even with that I didn't unlock everything.

I didnt get the achievement for beating Meg but then I played on my phone with xcloud and it popped right away

well that's because using the resume feature prevents them from popping, but restarting the game fixes that and makes them pop. i did it when i realized i didn't get the thanatos one

but the thanatos one, uh, just didn't pop and a few others did instead

Anybody know of a good review for this game? The guy I go to doesn't seem to have done one for it. Looking on YT I don't really recognize any of the names, except like for GameSpot and IGN but they usually seem less than helpful nowadays.

I mean the game's like 99.99999999999% positive on Steam you're sure to find plenty of good write ups easily if you don't mind reading through them all.

The gist for me would be:

• Great graphics, though I find the Zag (the hero) to be kind of too small
• Excellent EXCELLENT voice overs and script. This is the game's best part IMO
• If you don't like metaprogression, you won't like this. Everything is built upon playing it over and over and over again. This is precisely why the script is so incredible, as in any other game you'd see plenty of repeated lines after a while however I haven't seen any repeats at all. Not one. It's amazing.
• You play through random dungeons, in rooms that only have one or two exits. After killing all the enemies you choose which door you want to go through. On the door are symbols that tell you what to expect in the next room (ex. a boss fight, a shop, gems, a specific god's boon, etc). So you always get the idea of what to expect and they make that the player's choice at every step along the way.
• There are only a few weapons, but they are all pretty great and fun to mess with. One of the meta items, these dark crystal things, is used to purchase permanent stat boosts and stuff at a mirror in your room back at the starting point (which you'll be seeing a LOT of). To keep players from sticking with a single weapon, or perhaps to encourage experimentation with the other weapons, there'll always be one that is surrounded by an aura in the war room where you go to choose which to take with you. That weapon grants a +20% dark crystal bonus that run, and the bonus aura changes next time to another weapon.

It's good, I liked it a lot when I first got it. Listen with headphones for max effect, like I said the sound design and everything that comes out of that thing when it comes to voicework is like god tier.
