- Please consider the loop point listed when judging the song; if a video loops one minute 5 times, don't treat it as if it's a repetitive 5 minute song
- If it's a match between your favorite song ever and a song you despise, still LISTEN TO BOTH! Votes can and will be disqualified if there is suspicion songs are not being listened to, and you may be discounted for the rest of the contest for repeat offenses.
- No alt accounts, no rallying or begging, etc., etc.... You only get one vote! Swapping votes is alright, just make clear that you've already made a vote and are swapping.
- Make clear what your voting options are! Please keep votes separate from any comments, and use the titles given in the topic post.

very strong case of "i actually want the thing i'm voting against to win". both great songs but i know which i prefer

here is my absolutely silly ranking because i probably rate the big zts umineko epics around a similar level to most of the sonic r songs so i can actually do this:

the rankings here are roughly a range from 9.9/10 at the top to 8.0/10 at the bottom. so as you can see this is an easy choice; but i wish it weren't. (not differentiating between instrumental/vocal versions for sonic r, basing off of vocal for all these, instrumental vresion for many of them would boost or drop the score significantly depending on the song)

seeing Sonic R (maligned in the past here) do well feels SO COOL compared to umineko which has always been strong here, and sonic r is a much more personally important ost to me (especially with how obsessive about 90s synths i've been the past few months, been going on a huge research/buying spree with them, recently learned a variant of one of my favorite kinda obscure 90s synths i just bought was used all over the ost including this song!!). but it's no contest for me with these particular chosen picks

umineko rankings subject to change if i notice any of the polymetric motifs in songs i didn't notice the first time (which just boosted ded considerably (Despite me actually posting that on my odd time blog before wtf how did i forget))...resurrectedreplayer is really close to taking the crown for umineko for me but 2:56 - 3:59 of worldenddominator is a contender for my favorite part of the whole soundtrack or even arguably "Favorite sections of any vgm song ever"

It is 2009. Barack Obama has been inaugurated as President, H1N1 influenza has its first case confirmed in America, and Ed Bellis is hosting Big Ol' Video Game Music Contest 3 on board #8 of GameFAQs. Sonic and Umineko meet for the first time ever in a Rusty Ruins Act 2 - worldenddominator match that ends 16 - 26. worldenddominator goes on to become one of three Umineko retirees in VGMC 3.

6 years later, Sonic and Umineko meet again in a lefty-hosted VGMusic Contest 9 as goldenslaughterer gets the better of Sea Bottom Segue 15 votes to 11, but fails its retirement match in the following round. In July of the same year, business magnate Donald J. Trump submits his candidacy for the Republican nomination, immediately topping the early national polls.

Another 6 years later, Sonic and Umineko do battle once more as resurrectedreplayer faces off against Living in the City, this time as two retirees battling for a semifinal spot. When they first met 12 years ago, neither franchise had a single retiree. Sonic now has 4; Umineko has 13 plus an Ougon Musou Kyoku Cross rep. Two bitter rivals, fatefully intertwined across 3 presidents and more than 3 VGMC hosts. Will the people resurrect the seagull? Or live with the hedgehog???

i forgot this song existed. after listening to it again, i noticed it uses the same chord progression as attract from ridge racer revolution. these were popular chords in the soundtracks to '90s racing games, apparently.
