Do you think these people are embarrassing America to the world?

A Recent schoolboard meeting in Franklin, Tennessee turns nasty after a group of agitated anti-mask parents including Conservative Kook, Clay Travis SURROUND DOCTORS at the PARKING LOTS who objected to reinstating mask mandates for staff and students and visitors!!

The anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers were outraged when the school board voted to require masks inside buildings and buses which immediately resulted in a backlash as the left the room and were physical with the doctors at the parking lot including Outkick founder, Clay Travis who has 2 children in the district and said they should be ashamed of the choices they were about to make

He said "I feel bad for all these people walking around in masks engaging in cosmetic theatre thinking that they are making a difference against COVID, they aren't. Have any of you ever mandated masks for the seasonal flu? Well, shame on you because every kid in Williamson County Schools has been under more danger from the seasonal flu every year than they are for COVID."

The group roars with "No more masks"

After the vote, it continued outside where it got tense and physical as they THREATENED the doctors yelling "We know who you are? You can leave freely, but we will fuind you and we will hunt you down when you least suspect it. You can run but you can't hide. You will regret this"

Police had to be called so public health experts could drive away as the crowd yells "We will not live in communist america"

The delta variant is ravaging across the US with 50% of the country vaccinated as the majority of conservatives in red states REFUSE to mask up or take the shot with Tennesse facing a 12.6 covid positivity rate

Only 38% of the population is fully vaccinated and about 98% of those who have died and 97% of recent hospital admissions were unvaccinated patients.

Michelle Fiscus, the top immunization official was fired on July 12 after encouraging teenagers to get vaccinated and said the Governor was consistently resisting the state's promotion of the vaccine and they were being gagged

Do you think these people are embarrassing America?

sure. but it's also in the best interest of the government to have their population not die at the hands of people who think individual freedoms are more important than a society's collective wellbeing.

if having to wear a mask in heavily populated indoor spaces is making you feel like you have no freedom idk what to tell you

We've got a group like that, about 1300 of them. A while back they decided it would be fun to flood maskless into a local store en masse to get it to shut down. Tomorrow they're having some sort of party in the streets while the Delta Variant is running rampant through the town. :-/

Just to thoroughly poison the well, their pastor helped co-author the revisionist pamphlet, "Southern Slavery As It Was," which basically claimed that slavery in the United States was moral because it was Christian, some of my co-workers are women who escaped the church after the pastor blamed them for the spousal abuse they suffered, and he is reviled for his role in helping pedophiles and ephebophiles evade prosecution by arguing that they had repented to him in his church.

It's all fun and games to virtue signal about muh freedumbz until you FUCKING KILL PEOPLE.

You don't have a right to drink and drive because you can kill other people on the road. It's the same fucking thing. I'm sick of this bullshit. People who knowingly take actions that facilitate the spread of a deadly disease should be charged for criminal transmission of a deadly disease, and those who spread anti-mask rhetoric and vaccine misinformation should be charged with solicitation to commit criminal transmission. And that's me being generous, because as far as I'm concerned, you're basically serial killers or aiding and abetting serial murder at this point.

It must be great, going out of your way to get other people killed when you don't even have to watch them die as a consequence. No, you fuckers leave that to people like me.

I lost my mom to covid last October and this pretty much sums up how I feel. Seeing good (former) friends post stupid conspiracy shit on Facebook makes me want it delete Facebook. I only got on there to keep in touch with fam and friends but seeing their internal judgments be so wrong with the stuff they post, its sickening. Status report for the anti-mask, anti-vaxxers. Today 5 more people in the building tested positive (3 are employees). This is extremely unfortunate, as we were short-staffed even before this outbreak in the building AND we have to split our staff between serving the quarantine ward and the uninfected. The facility is, for all intents and purposes, basically working with a skeleton crew trying to protect dozens of people from a disease they themselves are catching and keeping alive people most commonly ravaged by the disease while at risk themselves (and we don't employ actual doctors and our nurses are stretched to their limits, which is real fucking great). Most of the staff are working alternating 12 hour shifts, often 7 days a week, and they have pulled the office staff who have training in health care to do additional support; the office staff are, every one, in a vulnerable age group for COVID.

No one died today, but I did have the great pleasure of witnessing one of my newly positive coworkers trying not to cry as he said to pass on that he wanted everyone to know that he loved them if he died. That was fun.

.

As an aside, it is worth noting that in addition to the horrific staffing situation cutting into the ability to effectively administer care, there are the vital but time-consuming sanitation and PPE protocols. If you refer to this chart:

... You can see how much time this takes. What this chart does NOT indicate is that the staff has to do this... every single time they attend an individual resident. So, let us say it is time to deliver lunch. Gear up, serve ONE person, take gear off, gear up, serve ONE person, take gear off, gear up... etc.

We're in full shut-down for two weeks as of the latest case we find, so that would be two weeks from today, but the timer will reset each time we have a new positive case. Hope we don't run out of PPE. The only hospital in town (of 30,000+ people) is in a worse situation than we are.

... But of course, this all might as well not exist, as by its very nature dying in a quarantine zone is something the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers won't see until after their own health has reached that point, and until then it might as well not exist, and if it does exist, it doesn't matter because those people have no value before the desperate need to virtue signal about freeedumb. What about these people's freedoms? They can't even leave their fucking rooms because ONE anti-vaxxer fuckwit came to call.

Do you feel that way about food service employees washing their hands? Or about cooking meat until it's actually cooked? Or about washing dishes with something more sanitary than the same damp rag you've been using for the past four days?

If you're that bent on public health and safety taking a back seat to "personal freedom," then as a matter of personal protection, nobody should ever eat anywhere you work.

Vaccinated people need to protect other vaccinated people? Vaccinated people need to be protected from unvaccinated people? Isn't that what the vaccine is for?

How is washing your hands to avoid contaminating food you're serving to the public not analogous to wearing a mask to avoid spreading an aerosol-borne virus?

They are not the same.

Analogies do not require the numbers to be the same. Only the logic.

Of course, your numbers are innately flawed because serious car accidents are vastly rarer than covid infections. The US sees ~6 million accidents of any severity per year (of which only a relatively small fraction are serious enough for not wearing a seatbelt to cause death). Meanwhile, they've seen 36.7 million covid cases in 17 months (~25 million per year, if we average that). If you're going to compare statistics, you need to ensure they're actually comparable before doing so.

Another person died. Positive cases now at 16 and 6 employees, for 22 total. Today a cancer-surviving employee who can't take the vaccine had to come back to work in the middle of the outbreak because she ran out of money. Everyone is trying to come up with things for her to do so she doesn't have to go to the more dangerous parts of the building. Tbh, it's obscene that she has to work at all; she also has permanent damage from a shelving unit tipping a box full of stuff on her head while she was shopping.

We've also increased our PPE protocols further, though I'm not sure it's going to help at this point. With the noteworthy incubation period COVID has, I won't be surprised if the number significantly increases within the next week. The ones who have died so far only tested positive the day of their deaths.

No, but similar enough. There was a massive influx of white supremacists into this part of the US (particularly in rural or remote areas of this region) during the 20th century, and they never left. Really, they're all over the place, but they stand out more in specific areas. They're sort of unavoidable here as the church's stated goal is to, I shit you not, take over the entire town by buying up as much property as possible and then use the local college to spread their church to other parts of the country (and make bank while avoiding taxes, of course). As a result, there is a lot of vitriol between property owners that do and don't belong to this organization, as the church pressures them to sell their businesses and land to the church.

The town is very unusual for most rural towns in this part of the USA in that we are majority non-theistic and liberal, so naturally the church members have a particular disdain for the other locals.

I'm gonna give away my location with this one if you bother to start googling, but:
In his 1964 book, Principles of War: A Handbook on Strategic Evangelism, Wilson explains that the concepts of physical warfare can be applied to strategic evangelism.
According to his dads text, Douglas Wilson said, a takeover of x is feasible because of the citys relatively small size and its reputation. And a takeover is strategic because it would mean a significant loss to the enemy.
Wilson says, We are supposed to be arsonists in the world.

So, to be very clear, they are an openly antagonistic force to the rest of the community, which is why they are able to commit abusive acts essentially with impunity. They made a stir a few years ago when they committed a mass harassment campaign that included threats to murder a local member of the LGBT+ community because she ran for local office. We've also had some murders of queer people in the region, unsolved, and... well. Doesn't take a genius to figure out what happened, when Pastor Doug walks around with an "AIDS Inoculation Center" sign and flies the Dixie flag on his property while preaching that battered women should just be more subservient so they don't earn another beating. Oh, and in their private schools, the staff are allowed to... spank the k-12 students as penalization. You can imagine the outcomes of that particular policy. Swear to fuck they want to turn this town into pedo-ville.

Edit: Side-note. Wilson is an insecure, power-obsessed cretin. If you want to get a feel for the kind of persona he likes to project, watch a Davis Aurini video and you pretty much get the gist. His hatred for women in particular seems to stem from mommy issues, according to people who grew up around him, lol.
