I feel like Windibank is possibly the most ill-advised comic relief this series has ever attempted

something about Windibank madly rushing off to get his gun so he could threaten to shoot himself was NOT FUNNY to me

but yeah, joking about suicide is in poor taste and not really something you should be doing as a running gag

I didn't think they could get any lower than using domestic abuse as comic relief, but they managed to surprise me one case later.

Suicide feels like an uncomfortable topic even when they handle it seriously, like in 2-4, there's almost something perverse about the relatively clinical (even if thoroughly sympathetic) way they talk about Adrian's attempted suicide. so it's super weird to treat someone who obviously has manic depression as a joke

also the irony of Windibank is I'm really glad he died so we didn't have to suffer through jokes about him threatening to shoot himself in court. Also thank god they never went the route of 'well maybe he shot himself, since he was always threatening to do that!' like oh my god this could have been WORSE somehow

I think it's okay because they aren't treating Edgeworth as anything other than ice cold in that moment but yeah I agree, that was a big 'wow holy shit, that's a lot?' moment

Yeah, everyone else is rightly shocked that Edgeworth says it and Phoenix calls him out on it later, so it's not like we're supposed to believe "wow so cool" that he said it.

Maybe, but I'm not there yet! Susato frequently gets her hopes dashed when she learns the reality doesn't quite measure up to the stories, and it's great.

you know I'm wondering what's the longest a case takes to get to the crime because this is taking a while

I almost said just murder, but not every case is a murder, and if we're limiting it to just cases with murders, the answer is easily 3-2 because you don't find out until the very end of trial day 1

I guess the only competition here is 2-4, 3-5, and...I feel like E1-5 took a while, too.

I want to say 4-2 takes a while to get to the murder, but if you include things like Phoenix's hit-and-run then it gets to that pretty quickly. Though G1-5 likely beats it regardless.

also glad I wasn't the only one who found Windibank's gimmick very uncomfortable

Yeah, 4-2 would be a contender if we count the time it takes to get to the actual murder, but 3-2 would still beat it.

Considering how much longer these games have been getting, I think G1-5 beats 4-2 pretty handily, assuming we're only counting the crime that Wocky was charged with. I can't imagine 2-4 and 3-5 even get close.

Also, if we're just counting any crime, then I think the fight over the disc ended up with either Gina or Benedict counting as stealing it. I still think it beats out every other case even if that counts, though.

Edit: Oh yeah, Benedict pulled a gun on you, which definitely counts.

On Iris's idea board, she has the title "The Boscombe Valley Mystery," which is, naturally, another Holmes story. I honestly don't remember this one all that well, even after reading a summary to try to refresh my memory.

I like the idea that Gregson butters up Iris so she'll give him better roles in the stories, or at the very least so she won't dump on him. It feels like a pretty realistic reaction.

Nah, I'm considering it all one investigation day. I didn't split it up for other cases like 2-4 or 3-5 where the investigation "day" technically wasn't a single 24 hour period either.

The Serenade version of Susato's theme is so great. Makes me happy that it plays multiple times during this case.

Hmmm...I didn't totally remember how everything in the omnibus really happened, so I was waiting for this part of the case to put everything in order. I couldn't remember if Gina was actually there or if the entire thing was a lie. She did say that the cops found her and forced her to testify, so that would imply that there was an inside job to get McGilded off with a not guilty verdict.

I'm guessing the big thud was the victim falling to the floor, but there wasn't actually any blood on the floor of the carriage at first, so that still confuses me. Gina says she had his blood all over her hands while she was sitting next to him, but in the image they show as she says this, she has no blood on her hands and he doesn't even have the knife sticking out of his chest, so that's a bit confusing as well.

I suppose I can believe Mason didn't bleed much at first because the weapon hadn't been pulled out, but it also doesn't explain how Gina got blood all over her hands. Did McGilded smear it all over her hands when he grabbed her out from under the seat or something? And then put on the gloves to cover his own hands? In any event, all the details still aren't adding up to me yet, but I know there's still more to come, so maybe that will clear things up.

I feel like this stereoscope crossing your eyes thing doesn't work as well if you're playing on a TV as opposed to a handheld, especially the 3DS with a 3D function.

also typist juror is now Morse code juror but OCD maid juror is still OCD maid juror so that's something at least

it's kind of annoying to have to redo a section because a press leads to an evidence present and you can't just intentionally present the wrong evidence to get back to the testimony

at least this game has a scene select option to get me somewhat close to the right spot

so Garrideb says he took a bullet to the knee in the Battle of Maiwand in 1880 (I suppose it's kinda scarily fitting that he's referring to a battle from the Second Anglo-Afghan War) so that means the game can't take place before then

I love the Skulkin Brothers. I didnt realize until midway through the case that theyre also Godfather parodies with their fruits and their music.

I said I could see it because I thought I knew what the difference was (there's an obvious difference between the two pictures that they didn't even point out!), and the game just continued as normal, which was fine by me! Trying to do this on a TV seems impossible.
