I am BIG into guns, war vehicles such as planes, tanks, and helicopters. But those communities are often filled with VERY far right people so I really avoid that community and its kinda depressing that I can't really find groups that I fit in with to talk about it.

I think most people now recognize that it's not the graphics it's how you use them; but I certainly won't deny there's still a lot of people who obsess over graphics being 'realistic' too.

Graphics to me have always been a icing on the cake kinda thing. Now say they realesed elder scrolls 6 and it looked like fucking Minecraft yeah that would hurt the game for me. Not bashing Minecraft. Dont care foe the game but respect it shows good graphics aint everything. But it was a indie game.

Sometimes philosophy, especially in academia. Generally speaking, many who tend to be closer to the analytic than the continental tradition love to gatekeep and can have a narrow sense of what classifies as 'real' philosophy (e.g. r/AskPhilosophy likes to assert that Alan Watts was not a true philosopher).

For me it depends on the game, if its a sim I want the best graphics possible. Oh and Borderlands has to be cel shaded, if not I don't want it.

Well, even then, Windwaker and Morrowind got released the exact same year (and WW on an arguably 'weaker' console. I don't know the specifics.) but WW's graphics aged beautifully while Morrowind... yea. Terrible.

Minecraft and fortnite. I like both games but I cant usually say that because people assume Im a part of the community when in reality I hate them as much as you do.

Just cuz a lot of communities bother me (music festival types, as someone who loves music and concerts) here's one that doesn't as much. The Heavy Metal community is typically very kind, supportive, and wants to make sure people don't get hurt.

Part of that is they set an expectation. If you're seen as going backwards, you'll catch heat for it.

Furry stuff, I consider myself one but the amount of rampant degeneracy that pervades the fandom is gross and I hate that it's really become a haven for people with weird fetishes to reign and show it off to anyone. Most people in the fandom have close to zero self-awareness and frequently violate the most basic social etiquette which makes it hard for me to find good friends in the fandom.

I wanna go to a con for it but I've heard so many horror stories from even the most tame of conventions.

I avoided Rick & Morty because it looked stupid. I was right about it being stupid, but I kinda enjoy it anyway although the first season was spotty and the pilot was just straight-up garbage.

I think I was sold on the concept by the ending of Rick Potion #9 (when they just move to a parallel reality and joke about only being able to do that once per season)

Totally agree on the Rick and Morty community too. I got into it right when it came out. Of course I have my criticisms, but I also just enjoy cartoons that are very quick and crazy, Superjail being my absolute favourite.

But yeah, once people were talking about Rick and Morty, I was like...can we just STOP THIS HOOPLAH!

Like, fighting games are some of the easiest pick-up and play type games out there, yet people get up in arms about not only which games you enjoy, but HOW you enjoy them. I have never gotten more hate mail in my PS3 message inbox then when I played Tekken 6 online for a few months.

doesn't really matter about age.

at the time, morrowinds graphics were arguably the best around, and wind waker was seen as a baby game because it looked like a cartoon.

as it is, 3d graphics will always age horribly, simply because the medium gets better and better. cell shading? not so much, since there's nothing to really get better about it.

I mean NASCAR tries to be all inclusive and has had a development program to give young minorities and women a shot at racing for over a decade, and when Bubba Wallace (a graduate of said program) asked for confederate flags to be banned they listened to him despite the fan backlash.

Yeah ive gotten some flak over i dont care to play competitively. I'm just fine fighting the computer opponents. If I can play against my best friend thats ideal but its rare these days.

Like half my 360 library was fighting games. I like to drink but cant play story driven games when drunk. When drunk I need something thats pick up and play and there really isnt "progression". Fighting games just happen to be my favorite genre that fits the bill.
