This has nothing to do with anything, but it is my real life fanfic that the Chris Paul/Jake from State Farm commercials are real life canon and Paul lives in a Truman Show-esque existential horror where he lives in paranoia that any moment of his life could become a State Farm commercial and I feel like the way it deserves to go now is Jake signing with the Lakers and getting a ring before CP3.

Peyton Manning is my all-time favorite athlete (Vol for life, greatest QB ever don't @ me), so it's cool to see him get inducted into the Hall of Fame. It's hard to believe he's already been retired for five years.

I think that's fair. The way Peyton changed how high-level QB play was measured is pretty much in a league of its own.

I really like the first two World Tournaments in DB. Androids/Cell is my favorite in Z, though Saiyan Saga is close. I do have an affinity for tournaments in general, so you can probably guess why I like specific arcs in Super a lot.

Cid might be the best boss fight in XIII, but yeah, his overall presence is pretty minimal.

Yeah, the death of AIM sucked because I haven't really been able to speak with people like Ed Bellis very much since then.

I just don't want to get sucked into something like Discord, so it's kinda sad that it killed off so much camaraderie on the actual board.

i'm not on the board 8 discord either and i also dislike how it largely contributed to the death of the board but... you "don't want to get sucked into discord"? what do you mean by that? it's just another chat service that has replaced AIM, MSN and the like, nothing more. you make it sound like it's some kind of crazy cult >_>

I don't mean it as a negative about the Discord itself (being anti-Discord on B8 just became part of my kayfabe at some point)

It's just being self-aware enough to understand I'd spend way too much time on there if I ever did take the plunge.

Honestly, most of the people that I care to converse with anyway are still relatively active on the board (or we already chat on other services). Which is probably why the B8 discord never held much interest from me.

It's why I just have to avoid Save My contests now. I gave it a go with the anime contest this year, and I just have no tolerance for the drama anymore. As soon as it hit this year, I had to bail.

Like I didn't necessarily enjoy hosting SMFFFC all the time (I was literally hosting a Sir Chris double agent in my own home that Steiner year), but I could at least get through it. I guess settling down and getting married reshuffled my priorities a bit.

Dragon Ball Z Episode 139 complete!

Huh, so Trunks's actions in the past don't change his future. They just create a branching parallel universe (The TVA in Loki wouldn't stand for this!). Future Bulma decided their world was beyond saving, so she sent Trunks to a world that could still be saved.

But now there's a second, older time capsule, too. Could it be that Trunks traveled further into the past like they discussed, and there's another Trunks running around in the present day now? Maybe he's one of the androids...!

Some thoughts on Utawarerumono Mask of Truth, which I'm a bit over 14 hours into now (last notable thing that happened was Munechika joining up a couple hours ago).

1. I didn't mention this earlier, but Shinonon is great. Any scene with her is basically guaranteed to be joyful (including in MoD). She might be the best character in the game, since she doesn't have annoying flaws bringing her down.

2. MoT is definitely much better than MoD. The changes with Haku make for a much better experience, with less stupid comedy. The greater focus on war is also nice. Most characters are better in this game in general.

3. It's nice that there are more battles. I dunno if there's much of a point in all the side battle stuff though. I didn't do any free battles in MoD.

4. Unfortunately MoT still shares some of the same flaws as MoD. The game can be incredibly slow, and though it's better this time, the comedy's still not very good. They could cut at least half of the slice of life scenes, since they're mostly not written very well. The problem's gotten much worse since Kuon became a major character again. For a while I thought she might be better, and she's not quite as bad as she was in MoD, but since most of the rest of the cast is much better here, she's even more the worst than she used to be.

5. This is irrelevant, but is it just me, or is every single character, male or female, young or old, single? Even the parents are all widows/widowers. That's... kinda weird.

Ace Attorney has very few married characters, too! It's a strange visual novel thing.

Also, I know I've spotted a Cubs fan because their sons are named Wrigley and Rizzo. I bet that trade a couple weeks ago really hurt!

I had no expectations of it being good because I hate it when video game movies decide they need Generic Human because the character(s) everyone wants to see can't carry the movie, for some reason.

That being said, I did wind up kinda liking it. I wouldn't say it's great because it's a bit too kiddy at times, but it has its moments. I thought their portrayal of Sonic (once they got the design right) was fairly solid.

Nothing special in terms of the scenario, but the animation was solid. The writing felt a bit corny though, certainly not up to the usual MCU standard.
