Yeah, I don't know what to think of that. I feel like Square thinks everyone wants old school FF all the time now, and I kinda don't. I'm not too interested in an FF1 prequel, if that's what this is.

Dragon Ball Z Episode 125 complete!

Okay, watching DBZ in full has been worth it for this driver's ed episode.

Also again with the big timeskip. We don't even get to see Bulma and Vegeta get together and have Trunks? This show, man.

13 Sentinels complete (and platinum get).

A+ game and experience. Might even be a 10/10. Definitely a game I'm very glad I picked up and I wish there were more like it.

Ending: About as expected except Ida somehow STILL survived. How!? I guess they never confirmed that Shinonome killed him and he managed to survive getting shot but I could have done without that. Neat seeing a bit of a look into how things are going for the cast 5 years later. Undoing BJ's sacrifice is a bit "eh" but logically I suppose it probably checks out as possible. I guess they paired Shinonome and Gouto given that they were the only main cast not paired off by the end. ...Tamao getting robbed here imhotbqh. Well, until/unless Shinonome and Gouto work out that whole turning AI into humans bit. ...Which I'm not totally sure checks out but I'll overlook that under the philosophical "what makes one human?" category.

I see there's a postgame battle area and I kinda like these battles so I might take a look at it. After that dunno what my next game will be. Nier Replicant was scheduled but I've also had Robotic;Notes and DaSH lying around for what feels like forever. Probably one of those two.

But now for the main event... character rankings.

Core Cast: Takamiya > Sekigahara > Shinonome > Yakushiji > Kurabe > Amiguchi > Gouto > Ogata > Fuyusaka > Minami > Kisaragi > Miura > Hijiyama

I'll note Gouto is a weird one to rank because of how his story is structured to basically all be at the end. I really like him in it, but out of it he's basically peak whatever if even present. I basically like all these guys though.

Supporting Cast:

Fluffy > Chibimura > Okino > Ida > Inaba > Morimura > BJ > Tamao > Miwako

Fluffy counts as a catch-all for 426 and all his various identities through the game. Fluffy was my favorite though. Chibimura was an extremely compelling character throughout the endgame and Okino was great. All three basically fell into my tendency to like mysterious/enigmatic trolls. Ida is a monster who got a better ending than he deserved here but he was a good antagonistic/villainous force.

I am a sucker for tragic stories like the one Yakushiji finds herself in. She also has the benefit of getting to play off Fluffy. Minami could be higher for sure. It was tough placing the back half of that ranking because I do like basically all the cast. BJ could maybe jump ahead of Inaba and Morimura but no higher.

Yeah that's the highest ranking I've seen for Megumi! Johnbobb had a topic called Better put on a show for Yuki-chan! (13 Sentinels beat) if you wanna seem some people discussing it on Log.

There are 9999 battles in the bonus mode, in case you didn't know.

I think the reason there aren't more games like this is that they take a loooong time to make. 13 Sentinels was originally announced as a Vita exclusive, to give you a clue how long. Was delayed a lot.

seriously, what IS this game. like, what were the designers thinking? what type of game did they want this to be? i haven't played a PM game since the gamecube one, but... why go so far away from that? the only thing that's as good as the old games is the snappy dialogue from minor characters and bosses. but i'd much rather have had a more conventional story and gameplay!

Trails to Azure Chapter 2 complete!

The terrorist invasion lived up to the hype. Everything in Orchis Tower was so great. That scene between the SSS and Osborne might have been the best part. Even knowing how everything eventually plays out, the tension there was palpable. It reminded me of everything Osborne as a character was capable of being.

Also, poor Gideon. What a rough way to go out. We never even get to see his face or learn his name! Not surprised by Crois proposing Crossbell's independence, of course. I'm just waiting for the heel turn and all the stuff with the tree and KeA as the Zero Child. Looks like that probably won't be happening soon since the next chapter looks like a breather episode at Mishelam!

There's a bunch of the DLC characters that I don't really care for but that doesn't mean I don't think it's cool they're in or can appreciate them. They've really overdone making the unique and fun to play, so it's still exciting to try them out.
