Do you mind when people show up unannounced at your home?

My sister got mad that me and my old man bumped into my Niece and Nephew on my Nieces birthday and turned up at her front door without telling her. Her home was seconds away from where we bumped into my Niece and Nephew so unless she wants me to hide around the corner I don't see the issue. I don't care if people turn up unannounced at my home. I probably won't answer unless I'm expecting someone but it's no big deal. Sometimes I actually find the surprise nice.

This.

Just showing up is kind of a sign of disrespect - it implies you assume that I can't possibly be doing anything as important or interesting as you are. While YOU may think you're being polite or friendly, you're actually being fairly inconsiderate.

I don't go to anyone's house without calling in advance first and asking if it's okay. Then if they say it is, I ask for the most convenient time for me to come over. I expect similar consideration from other people as well.

Is it for a random orgy?

Pizza?

Neighbors inviting me over for BBQ?

No?

Then probably yes since It would interrupt whatever I was doing/watching, but not like majorly, just like, mildly annoyed. If they are cute (and female) then that would probably erase the annoyance right there.

Normally I do this. However I was just going to put a card through the letterbox on my way to do stuff for my nieces birthday when we bumped into them. Seems a bit odd to ignore them and my sister lives a minute away so we just joined the kids, had a brief chat with them and my sister and that was it. Sometimes things happen and I wouldn't find it a big deal.

This sums it up. A neighbour knocked on our door once and asked if we had seen her pregnant cat. Lucky enough she came at the right time because we had actually rescued they cat from our garden that actually had given birth. That worked out for the best.

Pretty much this. If it's a home-alone day or just me and my spouse I might be clad in only a bathrobe and underwear (if even that... the perks of living in a rural area) and would REALLY appreciate being dressed beforehand.

Depends on who it is. Immediate social circle is always welcome. Modern communications mean in practice almost no one shows up entirely unannounced, but I've had friends call me up and give me five minutes notice and it's fine.

I do mind. The other day my parents were out, and I was home alone. I walked to the kitchen a noticed a strange car in my driveway. I feel really stupid, but I panicked and locked the door. I hid just around the corner while they knocked on the door. I was afraid to try and see who it was out of fear that they'd see me too. I had already committed to not answering, so when they kept knocking it gave me a panic attack. I was just hiding hoping they'd go away.

Idk, might've been worse if someone else was home and let them in. >_>

I'm sure they saw me walk past the window before I realized they were there. I was just so unprepared for company that I freaked out. I felt so pathetic hiding from them, but I couldn't bring myself to do anything else.
