Infiniti or Acura

I would prefer a Mercedes or Audi but somebody I know says that they are more expensive to maintain than other luxury line vehicles so Infiniti or a Acura?

i dont know about ripoffs but acuras are just fancy hondas. parts will cost 2-3 times as much cuz they're "luxury" but honda parts are very good, especially their engines.

if you get an infiniti, you're getting an expensive nissan, which means your transmission will explode

i was under the assumption Infiniti was better than that , haha but now Im just considering Mercedes/Audi/Lexus/BMW again.

I dont want to buy a Infiniti if its just gonna break down in 3 years like somebody said, or an Acura if theyre just going to charge me 3x price for what people consider to be a Honda lol

Lexus, Acura and Infiniti are very similar to Toyota, Honda and Nissan but they are obviously better. If you are going to spend on luxury cars, just go all out and get European ones. But if you want the cheaper Japanese ones then Lexus is better than both Acura and Inifniti.

Between those two, I'd pretty much always choose Acura. But Are you buying a new car TC? What's your budget? You seem to know very little about these cars. Where did these two choices come from?

If you're worried about repair costs, reliability, etc. At some point you should probably consider the normal brands. Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan etc. Rather than choosing a luxury brand.

I like these comments about them being very similiar.

Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, are literally just rebadges of Honda, Toyota, Nissan mostly for the US market.
If you look at some you'll notice this through history. Honda NSX was/is sold under Acura NSX, same for the Integra. Toyota Soarer is the Lexus SC###, Toyota Aristo are GS, etc.

The reason they're a "fancier" brand is because of past wariness. It's literally the same car, but Americans feel uncomfortable with buying a Toyota for a high price, because it's a cheap Japanese brand. It sounds dumb, but it totally works...
In Japan and some other markets they're still the original name/model. Things like the Nissan numbers and letters thing also stemmed from this, the Fairlady became 240Z, cuz it "sounds cool"

There was also the Volkswagen Phaeton that competed with and sometimes surpassed the 100k usd offerings from Mercedes and others, but people literally don't know what it is because it looks like a VW Jetta.

As for which to get... I prefer Lexus or Acura over Infiniti. As much as I like my Renaults, they've dragged Nissan/Infiniti into their "lets suck now" crew with Mitsubishi.

Yeah Im looking for a new car Ill probably buy it used though so a new car but used condition

And honestly Im not really placing a budget on it Im just going off of getting a quality vehicle that will reliably last me long enough for whatever price I do pay

in reality Ive only had a Infiniti(briefly) so I know very little about most vehicles in general.

the two choices for this poll came from me considering a replacement my Infiniti and that I like cars in the vein of similar luxury lines with Acura just being another recommendation that somebody bounced at me; and lastly I just assumed that I would spend less time at the mechanic owning a quality luxury vehicle.

Im not that worried about repair costs or prices of maintaining, definitely reliability though as I dont want something that needs fixing often. Out of those I would probably gravitate toward a Toyota

Yep, it's mostly due to national pride or WW2. The small foreign junk competing with big manly muscle cars that try to kill you at 30mph, but have 300-500hp (the method used for rating was inaccurate combined with build consistency, so some 426 Hemi's actually pushed 500+ when stated to be 425). That's why those 3 brands exist, and models changed.

Mitsubishi has had it rough for a while, though they have had some notable gems in the past. I won't insult them, but Mitsubishi, Renault, and Nissan are all in an alliance/group together, as a result their quality has become less than stellar due to reasons over the years. You might get a good one out the batch, but it's a gamble.
