However, he was on a team that couldn't sustain leads and could not shut down opposing offenses. Thus, he was expected to directly WIN games and not just control the field. Additionally, he was 0-8 on game winning drives if I remember correctly. Unless Darnold is legitimately harboring latent potential and Rhule plans to "Guru" that potential out of him, it really is puzzling what Carolina's staff is aiming for. The QB prospects are indeed good, but QB is just one hole to fill. A defense that still can't stop other teams will just drive any QB into a downward spiral. A below par Oline will make you cycle through QBs.
