One person can go through several small things like plastic forks and straws or wrappers every day. All that stuff is small enough to fall through the cracks of society and the waste management infrastructure to end up just all over the place. Compare that to a vehicle purchase which is often only bought every few years per household if even that often, in an industry that abundantly keeps tabs on vehicles through registration. Not saying that the latter is a good thing and we should obviously be moving away from non-biodegradable plastics altogether, but obviously smaller single use plastics are one of the biggest scourges of the environment at the moment and one of the obvious targets for the early stages of holding manufacturing companies towards making more responsible choices. --- YOU control the numbers of leches. -Sal Vulcano <cite>Mead posted [p:952619301] in Hawaii ban... Its an amendment to the plastic bag ban from 2018 to now include restrictions on the use and sale of polystyrene foam food ware, disposable plastic food ware, and disposable plastic service ware. The idea is to get business to move to fossil fuel-free utensils made of bioplastic, paper, or other renewable materials. ...Ok, never mind. Unless you are a young child or are physically incapable of drinking normally you should never be using a straw. That's what lids were invented for, and you are going to be sucking down a hell of a lot less bacteria using one of those. As for plastic utensils, eh. They are somewhat convenient but I could live without them.
