I don't know if I put 50 hours into Brawl without any mods. I'm thinking FF Brave Exvius. It's not a bad gacha but it's the only one I've put that much time into before swearing off the genre.

Yeah, there's a ton of nostalgia wrapped up in Neopets for me. I still appreciate the time I had with it and think some aspects of it are still interesting. It's just a total slog to actually play.
It wasn't really a slog. The metagame with is very similar to modern energy/gacha-based games. Super ahead of its time in every way really. Min-maxing it probably sucked but if you just wanted to enjoy the environment it was great. It also just had a bunch of free flash games, so you couldn't go wrong with those.

You're probably right in the min-maxing aspect because when I returned to it in 2016 I really wanted more impact for acquiring Neo Points and that required jumping into a daily routine that took like 30 minutes to go through. I did consolidate it to a core of "high yield" games that took reduced it to 15-20 minutes but even then I grew bored.

Then I realized that if I was going that far and minimizing the time I was playing I was just wanting to see the number in the bank increase and not really enjoy much else about the game. I'll warrant plenty of that could have been a personal deal, but that's why I meant that it was a slog for me personally.

The Flash games were mostly mediocre to bad, too. Maybe another casualty of only wrapping back around to it in 2016.

Ill go with Wheel of Fortune on the NES.

Fair. I played WoF and Jeopardy extensively across numerous versions.

Revisiting this, from my Steam collection, the answer is either one of the Fallouts if you want to be cynically jaded toward Fallout, or maybe Divinity: Original Sin 1. (2 is good. 1 has all kinds of things wrong with it, but I was determined to slog ahead and try to beat it...I restarted several times and never did.)

I didn't have strong feelings for Dark Cloud 2 either. The dungeons were so bland and combat was boring af. I liked the Georama system though but apart from that there is very few things I liked about that game. Story and characters are downright embarrassing as well.

Also while this may not be entirely topic related, I dread touching any Disgaea game even though I had quite a blast with the first game. I spent about 150 hours in that game and heard from people that the gameplay is basically the same in the entire series. Maybe it is because the story and characters wasn't exactly my cup of tea but the gameplay was very good.

Was running through my Steam library to see if there was anything I forgot, otherwise probably would've gone with Fire Emblem Heroes. But I came across a game I never would've expected to eclipse the 50 hour mark, let alone the 107 hours I apparently have logged into it?!

Game Dev Tycoon

That's gotta be some scenario where I just left it on at some point because no fucking way have I actively played that game for over 4 full days.

Beyond that I'd really be struggling to think of something. If I'm not enjoying it that far in I'd probably drop it (recent example Witcher 3, which I gave up on after like 15 hours).

The answer should probably be FF Type-0, but I'm pretty sure I abused the game's systems enough to the point that I managed to get through it and get the platinum in less than 50 hours.

I put in nearly 350 hours with Madden this year before realizing that I could just simply stop playing when I wasn't enjoying it instead of continuing to get more angry at it. It felt great to uninstall and never play again.

Ark, by far. I hate survival games, and this more so... But it's the only game my friends played for a solid 1-2 years so have around 100 hours in it... Definitely not worth it, but only way to play with friends.

Hearthstone, but kind of like masterplum said I only regret what I played when Whispers of the Old Gods came out and the expansion or two I played after until I quit.

FFXII I played side by side with a friend. While playing it I didn't mind it, but as soon as we finished we were both kind of like "why did we play that"

Starcraft 64... It was our go-to game when I was a kid... I didn't know about the PC version until a few years later... I tried to go back once just for nostalgia and it was absolutely horrendous.

Eh I played it recently for the first time and enjoyed, it's not something that aged super well, but the characters were fun.

I did not play that long though. I had no interest in gameplay besides beating the main story, and I had a blast beating it, so it's cool.

I'm always surprised they never tried to migrate over to being more of a virtual pet app.

All this Neopets talk also reminded me of Cartoon Orbit.
I probably put 50+ hours into that, got super caught up in the gToons card game, bots to generate points, and running Yahoo groups about it. Good ol' Yahoo groups.
