Black and other minority actors shouldnt be restricted from being cast in costume dramas because of the color of their skin. Efforts should be made industry wide to be more inclusive to minority actors, which means white actors shouldnt be cast in historically minority roles until there is equity or other justification.

Nothing about this view is hypocritical.

Disagreed. It always depends on the circumstances. Right now, the circumstance is "hos be mad", so it's okay to race swap.

I believe accuracy is key when playing the role of a person, and all inaccuracies are flaws. We only have paintings of what Lady Anne Boleyn looked like so representations of her should look like how she does in her portraits.

If the idea is to be a somewhat accurate telling of this person's story yeah, she shouldn't play the part.

If its not intended to be an accurate depiction it doesn't matter though.

I see: it doesn't matter, you probably don't care about the character anyway, her whiteness is irrelevant to her character, this is necessary to improve minority representation, even though she was a real person it's a fictional retelling so they can do whatever they want, and white people did it first. Am I missing any?

Also, Queen Anne gave birth to Queen Elizabeth the first, so presumably their child is going to be half black as well.

It's literally part of their charter. They have self-defined quotas that they have to meet, and since a lot of what they produce is historical dramas the only way to meet it is through this kind of casting.

Yeah, don't race swap real life people of history. Whether you agree or disagree to the race swapping of fictional characters is a matter of personal preference, but actors playing real life people should look like the person they are playing as, and part of a person's look is their skin color. There should be no "reinterpretation" when it comes to real life people.

I'm sure when the boot is on the other foot and a biopic is produced about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with Jared Leto in the lead, no one will say anything.

Because the people who have issues with those things have actual issues that people recognize (and more presciently, that the marketplace has decided would be profitable to exploit), whereas the people who have issues with these do not have actual concerns, and everyone recognizes them as silly and not being earnest or in good faith.
