Let's take the time to appreciate video games.

I've been playing the Yakuza Kiwami games. Those are some super rad games. I've no experience with it, but I feel comfortable saying the Yakuza series is the Fast and Furious franchise of video games.

What are you enjoying about video games right now?

Finished up Darksiders 3. It was fun, but rough around the edges, I think it's the worst of the trilogy, but with some more polish and a little bit more time I think it's a good direction for the series to head into.

Playing DQ11 right now, but started it earlier this year. It starts off painfully slow to the point where I wasn't sure if I wanted to move forward, and the soundtrack doesn't have a lot of variety either so that wasn't helping. However I'm now halfway through( I think?) Yggdrasil just fell and everything has been taken over by the lord of shadows so I'm assuming this is either halfway or 3/4 and I'm enjoying a lot more now. This is also my first Dragon Quest game.

I started Darksiders 3 twice and just could not get into it. Maybe it's just not for me.

I picked up the AC bundle for Black Friday that comes with AC3 Remastered, and boy do the faces in that game look horrifying.

I also quit DQ11:S in what is probably considered the early portions of the game (had just gotten Sylvando's boat). I do want to get back to it at some point, but I don't know when that opening will reveal itself in the near future. I just need to wait until I get the RPG itch again.

My wife has been deep into Phasmophobia a good and plays a lot with her friends and siblings. That game seems to do some neat things from what I've heard her say about it and she was really jazzed when the released the latest map. Hopefully that game continues to have a good early access (I think it's early access?) period because it's been fun to see her get really into it with some of her family that don't play any games.

Ha this is the reason I just started it up again, and funnily enough I was roughly at that spot where you left off(give or take a couple hours behind). Granted I'll give it the game for giving me a refresher everytime I play.

Just finished up Yakuza: Like a Dragon and thoroughly loved it. I'm kind of amazed how good it was when it was a completely new direction for the series to go in. With some further improvements I'll be extremely excited to see what this new era for the games will bring.

Also started Hades about a week ago and I'm completely head over heels for it. The gameplay, art, music, voice acting - the whole package really - is just dripping with incomparable quality and it feels so damn good to play. Very likely to end up being my game of the year.

I've been alternating Yakuza 6 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Almost done with Yakuza, that weird soft reboot at the end of the saga. AoC is very different from HW but very good. I'm just hoping for substantial content post-story.

I'm eager to play Yakuza: Like a Dragon, but I'm one of those people who much prefers to play all the games in a series if I can help it, and seeing as how I'm three games deep into Yakuza, I'm stuck waiting until I get to that point.

Hades is good stuff. I didn't have it in me to finish the post-credits content (though maybe someday I will), but I really appreciated the take on the genre. I don't play a lot of rouge-whateverthisis's, but the way the narrative lend itself to it was the most appealing part of it for me.

I could really go for a fresh Musou game, but I have no desire to seek out Hyrule Warriors or Age of Calamity because I don't have an attachment to Zelda, and especially BotW. Here's hoping the rumors of P5 Scramble are true!

I also started up Dark Souls Remastered. Frame rate issues ruined my playthrough of the original, but I hear it runs perfectly on PS4 so I hope this goes well!

But this just reminds me how much I'm anticipating a future Dynasty Warriors 10 announcement. I never played 9 after hearing the disappointment surrounding the open world implementation, so I'm excited to see if they improve upon that or try to reroute the gameplay again.

Hydelic was number 3 in my Spotify Top Artists this year. Granted I don't listen to Spotify that often so I'm sure listening to the Tetris Effect Soundtrack once fully did a lot of work, but I did throw a few of the songs onto playlists that get regular listening.

I just finished Yakuza 5 recently. I usually try to do everything in Yakuza games up to a point but goddamn, there's so much in this one! Gotta say I really loved Harkua's section, even if that part is a bit polarizing from what I've seen.

I've got a friend really into Insurgency: Sandstorm, so I picked that up recently to play with them. It's been so long since I've played an FPS, especially on PC. I'm just the absolute worst. Still fun though, and I've never played an FPS with such an emphasis on realism before. Usually stuck with more Sci-Fi and Arcade shooters.

Mario is one of my favorite series' of all time, and I just picked up a Switch about a month ago with the 3D Mario collection, so I thought I would play through the series, including Lost Levels for the first time. Takes a minute to get use to SMB1 again, but I managed to breeze through 1-3 fairly quickly. (Was SMB2 always that easy?) I forgot how to get Warp Whistles in 3 though so I had to take the long route. But goddamn I was not ready for the Lost Levels difficulty. I was playing on Switch so eventually I just started rewinding to get through it, fucking hell.

I'm, surprisingly, enjoying FF3 on DS right now. I've had it for 14 years, but never quite finished it because I found it to be so archaic and slow. But for some reason, I'm actually enjoying it this time around and got much further than I ever did in the past. I couldn't get into neither FFIII nor FFV for some reason, but since playing Bravely Default recently I am really into these job system games. I'm probably more patient with FFIII than I was in the past as well and my partner has played it, so we can talk about the game, which really helps too.

Where are my required dark souls updates

My entire playthrough to date is archived on my Twitch channel if you want to watch someone be very bad at Dark Souls

I beat the gargoyle boss on the roof and rung the bell, then I got lost for several hours and kept running into places I shouldn't be and getting killed. Found some sweet armor in a forest though. I think I finally just made it to Lower Undead Burg which I think is the right way (I got to Blightown on my first playthrough years ago)

I enjoy the game but I sure am bad at it! Also I have no idea what I'm doing with my build (I chose Pyromancer)

Is Ori considered a Metroidvania? I really do not like the genre, but the look and reported feel of Ori is tempting. Another game that I know it's from the genre that has tempted me is Bloodstained: RotN because of an the fun systems it sounds like it has.

Switch Online's SNES library has had its claws in me. Been playing Mario's Super Picross, Super Puyo Puyo 2 and PilotWings.

I hadn't played PilotWings in many years, but it's held up wonderfully. I love the aesthetic style of the game as well as the soundtrack; both are begging to be used in vaporwave. The gameplay is still unique, especially the "grading system" to advance levels, and it's tense in the best way - I was wilding out while trying to beat the helicopter mission.

Picross and Puyo Puyo are always great. I'm interested in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 as well, but I have to wonder if they can really top the original.

Judgment is basically the Mandalorian of the Yakuza world. It's the same universe - 99% in Kamurocho - but zoomed in to a much smaller scale. It's extremely cool since it gives you a totally different view of the universe; most of what happens would be zero threat to someone like Kiryu but since you're not playing as a legendary underworld superhero the city actually feels extremely dangerous/threatening when the wrong people get pissed at you.

Did you play all three Trails in the Sky games before playing Cold Steel? I've long wanted to get into Cold Steel, but I haven't beaten TitS SC yet though I think I'm close [late-ish game spoilers] ( shutdown occurred and I'm running to all the towns). Neat. I also like the private eye role the protagonist supposedly has. Instead of letting fists do the talking, it'd be refreshing to do some sleuthing in the Yakuza universe.

Been playing Mario's Super Picross
So have I, through the same means, and I feel the same way about it! It's one of five games I've played for at least an hour in the past week, which is an unusual level of diversity by my standards. As for the other four:
  • I picked up 2C's surprisingly easy golden berry in Celeste on PC and also spent a bit of time bashing my head against 3B in the Switch version.
  • For some reason, I began Katamari Damacy (Reroll) expecting it to be a simple novelty even though I'm bad at almost all games I play, but it took me several attempts to beat Make a Star 4.
  • I now have two episodes and one interlude left in Kentucky Route Zero, way too late for GotM, but I suppose I at least haven't given up entirely.
  • A couple days back, I felt a hankering to fool around with a character creator in a game whose graphics try to be realistic, so I started a brand-new Skyrim playthrough. I guess that's why I really got into the resulting character to the point I've started privately writing about her.

For sure. My siblings and I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours playing it as children. Update of it, speaking of:
Beat SMB3 for the second time ever, whoo! Also ended up having to go all the way through Pipe Maze for the first time ever so that was actually really interesting. I always skipped that world as a kid cause it sucked and still does, but it feels good to have finally actually gotten through it.

We also beat SMW earlier today. Went all the way through, no skipping to the end. Gonna go back and go through special world some time later.
