While this is great news and I think the correct decision, it highlights the potential problems Biden could face if McConnell obstructs him from appointing cabinet members. As mentioned, by law you can't just name anyone the acting director. By the law's stipulations if the GOP decided to stonewall basic appointments like this, his only real option would be to find solid career civil servants who have stuck with the departments in question throughout this nightmare. Though as much as I want to believe in GA - and I did believe in them for the presidential election! - my pessimism in Dem turnout in non-Presidential elections is very strong.
