Nah, I'm pretty sure they'd like to kill anyone not white and anyone of certain religions, tbh. Nazi is probably a fair description. They definitely crack whole percentages of the population at this point.

Also, I think Merrick Garland is a Supreme Court Justice and Amy Coney Barrett and Kavenaugh and Gorsuch aren't. Mainly because I think Hillary won the 2016 election. I was surprised she didn't run again.

There's a not insignificant chance Alito may retire in the next two months. He is over 70, reportedly hates his job, and won't want to be replaced by a Democrat. Now's his chance to retire and be replaced by Trump.

By the way, hearing word about Elizabeth Warren telling Joe Biden that he should unilaterally forgive 50k of student loan debt. As someone who would have 50k forgiven, I oppose this because it would cost me a ~17k tax bill, which, unlike the student loan, would be due next year. No thanks!

I mean even if he wants to there isn't much time. It took 5 weeks after RGB's death to get Barret so there is technically enough time, but doesn't US congress get a winter break, at least during the week of Christmas? Also how late before inaugaration day is congress in session? Like can they pass something on 19th?

They can confirm the new justice even after Trump leaves office, unless Biden rescinds the nomination. Actually, I'm not even sure that a President can rescind a nomination - Adams was nominating judges on his very last day in office, and Jefferson didn't try to rescind the nominations. Not sure if that was because he couldn't rescind them, or just didn't want to.

Also, if you know the way the US Senate does business.... so many important votes the last 10 or so years have been held in the middle of the night, in an emergency long session because they were up against a deadline. If there's a conflict with vacations Mitch will just summon them back.

What complicates this is that the Georgia Senate runoff happens so late....on January 5th. That's after the new Congress takes their seats on January 3rd. Not sure why they would schedule that election so late.

But in any event, Republicans may not want to risk what looks like packing the Court before seeing the outcome of that Georgia election. If Alito announces his retirement on January 6, and assuming that a President is able to rescind a nomination, then the Senate would have just 2 weeks to confirm the new Trump pick. That would require a rules change.

Trump's lawyers have dropped suit in Arizona, and now organizations are finally projecting GA for Biden and NC for Trump.

And as I think someone hinted at a few topics ago, this gives Biden the same electoral count as Trump in 2016.

(That doesn't stop the GA recount from happening.)

Let's try to avoid biases when it comes to dominance in victory.

Trump won with the same count in 2016 correct? Was that a dominant performance? Well, when you look closely, Trump won by razor thin margins in 3 states that ended up flipping the election and padding his totals.

Biden also won 3 states with razor thin margins (less than 1% PA, AZ, GA) that flipped the election and padded his totals.

If you want to call it dominant, I guess you can based on the final number, but that's just not reality. In the same way Trumps win in 2016 wasnt dominant either.

These were back to back razor thin Presidential elections.
