Most people here certainly seem to think they're more than qualified to run a country, we might as well.

The case counts are growing so fast and so high in Nebraska that they keep breaking the state's official tracking map. And they're going to have to fix it yet again very soon, the top end on the map is 30,000 cases and Douglas County is sitting at 28,603.

There have been 89,942 cases in Nebraska, which is over 4.7% of the population.

You guys obviously didn't get the memo; Trump's list of accomplishments included beating Covid-19. It's over now.

For real though I live in Minnesota and our cases are spiking just like the rest of the midwest so. . . Probably terrible.

Pritzker is an asshole that has no idea what to do, he doesn't know if he wants to shut down completely or just have a few restrictions and it's getting ridiculous. A couple weeks ago he shut down indoor dining and all the restaurants are pissed off because they didn't do anything other than start fucking over restaurants/bars but let other non essential businesses stay open

Let's be real no matter how many restrictions you put in place or how hard you try to enforce masks this won't end until people stop being selfish

They don't care that we're in the middle of a pandemic that is getting worse every day (and regular flu season hasn't kicked into gear yet) just as long as they get their instant gratification and can have parties with all their friends or get drunk at the bar

I love how in my state the gov enforced bars to be closed after 10 PM as if covid magically goes away before said time

If anything the early closures just funnel more people together since everyone has to be there earlier instead of spread out through the night

I have kind of questioned businesses having reduced hours. That seems to be a common theme for lots of different areas' responses, but it seems to me like it'd just result in higher concentrations of people, not fewer shoppers overall.

That said, bars closing early makes sense. Bars are generally at their busiest when people are out for a night of drinking. If they're closed before nights of drinking really get going, then those looking to go out are more likely to just stay in, so all you get at the bars are people who go out for an after-dinner drink or two. It also basically kills pub crawls, so you don't get groups crowding into multiple different bars in sequence and carrying whatever was in the last one to the new one.

I agree. When Wal-mart was open 24/7, you could go at night when nobody was there. And the rest of the customers were spread out. Now that they close, everybody is there for the short amount of time that they are open.

Also sucks when you need something in the middle of the night...

Same with the gym. I use to go around 1 in the morning when no one was there. Now, everybody has to cram in for the very shortened hours. People would be better if they were open 24/7 again...

I'm pretty happy I'm in San Francisco right now since we're handling it really well compared to all the other big cities.

There's a spike in cases right now, but our mayor is reacting to it and our hospitalizations and death toll have been very low especially considering per capita.

The reverse issue comes up in talking about Sunday shopping. For a lot of retailers, being open on Sunday is actually a bad thing, since they have to pay for another day's worth of staff, but they generally don't get much additional business because people just buy the same amount of stuff on a different day instead of actually buying more. To that end, I could see reduced hours being a way to help compensate for the fact that people are buying less (plus, of course, there is the need to have an extra hour or two of cleaning each day to comply with enhanced sanitizing protocols), since the retailers end up paying for fewer staff hours.

I kinda want biden to fire everyone associated with the cdc and create a new org because they have been planning for events like this since ww2 when japan wanted to plague bomb the west coast. The cdc and leadership showed a gross if not criminal level of incompetence. The refusal to acknowledge a problem doesnt make it go away. Thats why BLM is a thing. The government needs to own up to failings.

I could see that for Wal-mart. Though, they barely have workers there at night. Like one person on one register. And pretty empty, even on the employee side. Though, the gym is a different story. It's just military personnel...
