Gary Johnson gets a lot of crap from libertarians for not being extreme enough but I think he's a pretty reasonable guy. It's a shame he also got so much grief from people for the Aleppo gaffe. I guarantee 90% of people who crapped on him for that had no idea what Aleppo was either, and when you run a campaign on anti interventionism I don't think that it matters that much if he knew the ins and outs of that situation

not really no. the private sector tends to do shit cheaper and better than the public.

I can understand an exception for things like military and police (i am also fine with privatizing both) but for pretty much anything else, there is no debate as to which sector is most cost effective.

subscription and toll based road systems would be a start. pay a monthly fee for the roads that you use regularly, and pay tolls when you need incidentals. either way, its gonna be so much cheaper than paying for an absolutely bloated and inefficient government bureaucracy to do it.

oh you mean the incredibly over regulated american healthcare market?

because if you look at the almost completely deregulated fields like ophthalmology and dermatology you might notice that the cost, success rate, and availability of lasik have all done nothing but improve, as have numerous skincare products etc.

ive never made the claim that the US healthcare system wasnt broken. what i take issue with is everyone's claim that socializing is the ONLY possible solution

The only Libertarian I actually know much about is Ron Paul since he ran as republican that one time. He basically just used his identity as a Libertarian to refuse to answer anything just saying "leave it to the states" not really a leader.

Oh and just to be clear, I am not a libertarian. Privatization is one of few points I may agree with them on, even if our reasoning on the matter is entirely different. Do not assume that any views I express are the views of the libertarian party or any individual libertarian.

Private roads may indeed be better maintained, they also don't have to maintain every road ever. There are going to be roads less travelled, and someone needs to build and maintain those roads. I'm fine with my tax money going to subsidize that, and not be hit by tolls on every single road I drive on.

I enjoy being able to go up far north for some backpacking, on roads less travelled. Thankfully, these roads exist because we pay taxes and the government builds them. Private companies would just let all the town's and parks die because there's no money in it.

No. In some senses, they're a mix between Republicans and Democrats but in reality it's more a matter that both parties share some of their priorities although libertarians generally go a lot further. Libertarians are classic liberals (unlike "leftists" claiming to be liberals) and are pro-freedom in almost every regard. Keep in mind that libertarians are generally more pro-immigration than democrats. They also tend to be far more anti-war than democrats. And in general, democrat-vs-republican is a left-right paradigm that distracts from the rest of the political compass.
