Yeah, this probably would have been something to coordinate with a few other states so they could all try it at the same time, to avoid having one pioneer bear the full brunt of "pharmaceutical tourism" all at once. Well, unless the whole point is to have the experiment fail so they can say "look! We tried it and it didn't work! Back to jail with you!", which wouldn't surprise me given how strong the prison lobby is.

There is. Decriminalizing just means you don't go to jail for possession (aka common sense), it doesn't make them legal to produce, import, or distribute. Legalization allows all of it (though usually with some regulations, like alcohol).

Given that it's just decriminalizing them, that's unlikely. Dealing and whatnot is still illegal, you just won't see people going to jail for using them (which has never accomplished much of anything).

I mean there are almost more pot places in WA then fast food places (minor over exageration...but there is often a pot store closer to high schools then food places lol).

I can't imagine what is gonna happen now in Oregon, but at least they can't sell all the other ones in stores.

I am pro legalizing drugs btw, I just am imagining what is going to happen at that point considering how prevalent pot smoking has become in states where it's legal.

technically yes but nobody is gonna call the FBI about a small amount of a drug for individual personal use

I dont even think that authorities doing nothing at all about hard drugs is the right response, but putting people in prison just for doing drugs only makes everything worse

I mean, if all drugs were legal I would.

Not do pot, maybe edibles every so often, but it is here and I don't.
Not do crack/speed/coke tried it in my 20's hated it.
Not do mushrooms, I don't need help hallucinating.
Not do meth, I like my teeth.
Not do heroin, don't even like floaty feelings or pain killers.
Not do exctasy/molly whatever it's called today.

So basically I wouldn't do any drugs. I also don't drink alcohol. I'm a very very boring person.

I dont think this means that they will do nothing at all even in this case. Think about it. Alcohol is legal, but if you are drunk and belligerent in public, you'll end up getting arrested anyway. I think it will be interesting to see how they do with decriminalization hard drugs. Hopefully the money that would have been spent on incarcerations goes towards drug treatment and prevention instead.

For me, pot slows everything way the hell down to an aggravating level, so I avoid it. After an experience I had had with vicodin, and another selling medicine to old people, I know I'd rely on pain killers in order to function and how horrid things would be for me. I don't need hallucinations or help getting into a creative state of mind, either. The rest have always sounded like a pass to me.

It won't fight the drug epidemic directly, but it will make it substantially easier for addicts to get treatment and turn their lives around because they won't be in jail and/or have a criminal record weighing them down.

It's obvious people have no clue what decriminalization means, it sure as fuck doesn't mean it's legal. Some dude gets caught with a kilo of cocaine or meth and you can bet your ass he will have a one way ticket to prison.

The difference is if someone is caught with a small amount they will not go directly to prison they will either pay a fine or can opt to go to a treatment facility.
