Disagree. Bad flags (or lack of a flag) happens in literally every game. People just tend to notice it more when it's late in the game but forget about all the times it happens earlier in games and would have completely changed gameflow.

nah you deserve to lose when you forget what down it is

Bucs did not play very well that game. You can chalk it up to injuries (every team is dealing with injuries more than normal because of no training camp or preseason), a short week (I mean we won a game on Tuesday and then won a game the following Sunday), or bad calls, but their QB forgot it was 4th down because he's an old man and Foles still owns Brady's soul. These things happen. You don't win every game, and sometimes you lose to teams you don't think you should.

Brady had a lot on his mind. Those things happen, especially in the cold.

I have never seen a QB not realize he had just played his fourth down. Lol It's a lot easier to laugh at him fucking up than make excuses like "He had a lot on his mind" when literally every QB has a lot on their mind and don't make a mistake like that.

Brady is great but he made a hilarious fuck up. That's fine. Just facepalm and laugh at it bro.

Gotta feel for this guy. Especially because the sack they took away is always called a sack nowadays (fairly certain by the book it's a sack too)

Super late to the convo here, but are the bucs good? I think so, yes.

Is chris also being biased because they're his team? I think so, yes.

Like you can't push back against the people discrediting the raiders win for having their entire o-line out and then very next page discredit the bears win against the bucs. "You play who you play" right? Bucs have looked good but there have also been a clunker or 2. It's fair reason enough for someone to consider the bucs overrated if they believe so.

to be honest Brady has been not great in about half the games they've played so far but he can mask it behind good skill position talent (which is why he left New England in the first place, because they just don't have any on offense. They traded a 2nd rounder for Mohammed Sanu halfway through the season last year and he's not even in the league anymore) and a really good defense

he doesn't have to be THE reason they win the championship which he's honestly probably a little relieved about, although he'll probably still get all the credit if they win and all the blame if they lose

This is what haters are going to use to discredit Brady when the Bucs win the Super Bowl and the Pats miss the playoffs instead of admitting that Brady was more important to their success than Bill was

not that you're doing that here but that's what it made me think of!

Brady is still a good player and no one (mostly) is doubting he's the goat, but we saw what the Pats offense was last year for 9 games to end the season with Brady in it, and it was only marginally better than what it is now, if even that. They couldn't score at all. That's not a knock on Brady, it's a knock on how awful the team was on that side of the ball.

Now this year, they're at least as bad without even looking at QB, but also much worse on D. Half the starters leaving in FA and the other half opting out did them no favours. Brady didn't suddenly get better this year, he finally has the weapons around him to allow him to succeed. He's played fantastic in a few games, and he's played pretty average in others but everyone around him is so good that it doesn't matter. I don't think he's willing this Bucs teams to win. Even in the great games they've been blowouts, he isn't doing any carrying here.

I've got fellow Pats fans, who seemingly are now more Bucs fans than Pats fans, telling me Brady is missed this year and I question if they watched any of the second half of last year. Make no mistake, this Pats team would be equally as bad with Brady at QB this year. Maybe they win the Denver game, but that isn't saying much.

That's the difference though. They beat bad teams and lost to playoff teams last year (and the Dolphins but divisional games are weird)

Brady isn't god-mode anymore and he's not willing the Bucs to wins, but he's helping them not beat themselves unlike Winston. But this shows that Brady wasn't washed last year and it was Belichick's roster-building that was the problem, and it proves that the whole "system QB" thing was wrong and dumb. People actually said Belichick could win with anyone because of 2008 and well

To be fair, this team might be winless under a different coach. There's only so much a coach can do when you have so little talent and so many issues across all sides of the ball. The secondary should theoretically be still good this year and they aren't really, but it doesn't matter anyway when Jimmy G can throw 0 TDs and 2 picks and you still lose by 30.

To add to this, I'm not really sure what Pats fans want? Would you be happy going 8-8 with Brady, missing the playoffs, having a mid round draft pick, and then needing to make a decision on the team and the QB?

Give me the terribleness of this year and potentially a top 10 pick when we know we need to address a need at QB and don't have to worry about the old guy at QB being upset about it.

That may be true, but he's the GM too so the roster being bad is mostly his fault, on the offensive side of the ball at least. Tough luck with a lot of the defense opting out, but that's not why they scored 6 points against San Fran and 12 against Denver. The Jets put up a better fight against both of those teams!

Oh I don't disagree with this at all. Last year was proof enough it was time to move on. I'm specifically talking about people who like to say Brady would be nothing without Bill, system QB, etc.

You know, last year I was actually speaking to Patriots fans last year at bars a few times while their team was 12-4. Literally 12-4. And all they could do was complain about their team and say the team was these problems and they're never going to get anywhere and I was just like... "Guys, you're 12-4. I wish I had a 12-4 season with my team in the past few years."

They were all nice guys and they laughed about it and a lot of times they busted out the "Dynasty" and "We expect better." And it's just this very strange mindset that Patriots fans seemed to have, especially since their responses were always remarkably similar.

So it's weird to me that people are talking about last year Patriots like Oh Brady needed to move on or oh this really exposed them. 12-4. This team was 12-4. 3/4 of the teams wish they ended up with a record that good.

speaking from a Pats fan perspective, you just expect to win if you have a HOF QB+HC combo

it's one thing to get spanked by a team like the Ravens or Jets or Broncos in the playoffs because they just had the better players and another when your woes are self inflicted

I've said this many times, Bill let ego get to his head and took Brady for granted and had people leak to the media that he could win with any average QB, and now he's finding out he has to actually pay attention to the other side of the football and not spend 30% of the cap on special teams

BB won his first 3 SBs with Parcell's team, he's not some magical GM that can fix things instantly and we're in for a long rebuild now that he has to focus on all three phases of the team

I haven't kept up with the Bucs too closely since I don't have cable or sub to any of the streaming services but it seems the team hit on a lot of their recent drafts and are coming together nicely. I heard they had a good D last year but they were put into really bad field position by Winston so they gassed out towards the end but they look good this year.

I think if Brady wins this year he's going to extend with the Bucs for vet minimum for his next contract just so they can surround him with pieces on offense and defense, something that Bill wouldn't do

Bears O got exposed hard last night (not like it's that difficult though). O line is a mess, especially with Daniels out for the season. Cohen being out hurts the versatility of the running game, and it's not as if they can block for any RBs anyway. Ted Ginn needs to be cut today, dude literally ran away from every single punt. Defense is still quite good, but they get gassed late in games because they're on the field the whole fucking game.

Also, talking about the penalties in the Bucs/Bears game, yes the roughing the passer was hilariously a soft call. But I've seen what should've been a PI call NOT called against a defender who knocked down Robinson, later get called against Kyle Fuller which wiped away an Eddie Jackson pick 6 (FYI, that was in the Panthers/Bears game, not the Bucs). The Bears have had a few phantom roughing the passer calls this year, and Khalil Mack is held/tackled every fucking play and it's hardly ever called.

Sorry, rant over.

Yeah their 8-0 start last year, which was mostly thanks to the D and playing awful teams, masks that they weren't really a 12-4 team in skill.
