Are you billionaires controlling the US Government?

Do billionaires control the US Government? I'd say yes simply because with the Supreme Court Citizens United case, dark money comes in from the US wealthiest citizens to "buy" politicians and they then set out to carry the wishes of the wealthiest via laws, tax codes, free trade agreements etc etc.

The wealthiest even control the candidates who run for the Presidency because they handpick the people they want then they bankroll their campaigns so no matter who voters choose, you choose someone picked by the 1%.

Well, since the US Government as an entity is a trillionaire it is kinda unfortunate that mere billionaires have influence

Control? Nah. Not wholesale, anyway.

Have a disproportionate and undue influence on? Sure.

The billionaire in the executive office can barely control the Legislative Branch, since they attempted to impeach him for something his opponent's son did, as well as, without any proof, and despite the media breathing down his neck where he couldn't even sneeze without it being reported, somehow colluded with a foreign power who we are not on the best of terms with.

See, this is why the GOP was able to get away with voting not to remove him from office despite his unambiguous guilt. This is the level of understanding his base has of the situation.

No. Even though we have a literal billionaire president, even he hasn't been able to really control the government. Not to mention that "billionaires" aren't some monolithic group anyway. They support different parties, opposing legislation, and things that benefit one can hurt the others.

If money in politics made as a big difference as people think, Trump would have lost both the primary and general election in 2016.

And yet Trump had one of the smallest war chests of any primary candidate whereas Jeb had more money than anybody on the Republican side but quickly lost.
