I had one of those the other day myself! Literally must have had close to a full timer at the start of it because holy shit it was just me and them and they were on that level for like 3+ minutes. It was hilarious, on top of bewildering. You'd think they would eventually try a different path.

I might be getting tired of this game. The past five times I've lost has been because I fell into a hole due to a wonky jump. I'm starting to really hate these awful jump physics.

On the plus side I got a record setting 3 second KO. I mean, they probably would have died to the regular Goomba anyway, but it counts.

Mario 1 physics are brutal, but I did a no-rewind run of The Lost Levels before this game came out (actually, I still need to beat World D!) on Mario All-Stars. So I think I was already well-adjusted by the time I played Mario 35.

But yeah, wonky physics are just another reason a Mario 3 version of this concept would be absolutely incredible. On top of, you know, SMB 3 just being one of the best platformers ever.

I sort of wonder how some things would work in a Mario 3 version of Mario 35. Autoscrolling levels are absolutely brutal if directly ported over. They will kill your timer with little options to deal with it. Which powerups will be in the roulette? Can you get random Frog Suits? The screen can scroll to the left which adds more complications. I hope they do it anyways and let us send swarms of Boss Bass and Koopa Kids at other players.

In SMB3 randomizer they have an option to disable the autoscrolling where possible, for the sake of races. A few levels work really weird if you do that though (like the underwater one with the electro jellies) so it stays on for those.

Yeah after having to beat Lost Levels 8 times on the Switch Online app to unlock Worlds A through D (and choosing not to use save states, rewinds, or Continues to do it) I think I can safely say Im Good at Mario

Man doesn't the NES version of Lost Levels force you to start the world over if you die too? No thanks! I remember playing that version on Wii and could never get past World 7. 7-4 would always screw me.

But that's an impressive feat Genius. Good luck on the letter worlds without level by level saving, if you haven't done them yet.

I already cleared it all. The trick is that you can get maximum lives on literally the second enemy in 1-1, so my first several runs I did that, but eventually I was comfortable enough to skip it.

Just make sure you stop short of 128 lives, otherwise your life counter wraps around to -127 and will cause a Game Over the next time you either die or finish a level.

Infinite lives tricks exist in a space in between "beating the game legit" and "using rewind/save states", imo. It's a cheesy way to beat the game, but it does use a method contained within the game itself to do so - it's an easy way to beat the game but I'd consider it legitimate, just not mastery. Using rewind/save states is a little less legit - I'm not trying to gatekeep here, you should play any game by whatever means you find necessary, but using an outside tool is a lot more questionable.

That's basically just the equivalent of beating the All-Stars version with level by level saving, which should have been in a game that brutal in the first place. Totally fair.

The devs even said they purposely put the infinite lives trick at the beginning of the game because they knew how insane the game they made was.

Each player picks one course and that makes up the set up 35 courses everyone plays in the same order (barring the user of warp zones). Earlier game courses tend to show up earlier in the queue. So 1-1 is more likely to be one of the first levels that shows up and 8-4 tends to show up deep in the queue. The game tries to avoid putting the same level twice in a row so normally if you beat 1-1 the next level won't be 1-1.

Warp zones let you jump ahead in the queue. If you exit 1-2 normally you go to the next level. If you take the far right pipe you skip one level. Middle pipe skips 2 levels and the far left pipe skips 3 levels.

I actually had a match start in 1-2 instead of 1-1 today. 1-1 was still in that match but there were a lot of 1-2s (I think I visited four of them in a row via Warp Zone) so they must have needed to put it first to avoid getting back-to-back 1-2

I'd argue that 3-3 might actually be a little more boring, except it's not because it's relatively novel to see it. I do like the aesthetics of the "treetop" levels, but they aren't terribly interesting otherwise, aside from 6-3 which is so acrobatically challenging that it's just funny.

I suspect that a lot of people just pick 1-1 or 1-2 out of comfort, and a surprising number of people won't even have anything past 1-3 unlocked yet, so that accounts for a lot of picks of those levels.

Going back one more time

The switch has now been charging for 24 hours

I'm declaring it

as I said it could just be the battery, amazon has them for like 20-30 bucks...which I still don't trust

but might as well use this opportunity to upgrade, This IS a V1. I hear V2 batteries are better but that doesn't mean V1 ones were faulty...right?

but even if was the battery, its still weird I can't get ANY response out of it. With Fried Batteries, in my experience, I can still thinks with the items. They just dont' hold charges anymore

Oh well, we'll see what I do tomorrow. I think the store has a trade bonus if you trade in towards an Animal Crossing switch (LOL)

1-2 is a fantastic farm level, which is why you'll always see a lot of that. I imagine you don't see as many far levels because

A. Those levels are going to appear at the end, anyway, and sometimes games don't even last that long
B. People seem more interested in winning than unlocking levels, so not as many toss in harder levels
