We already know Trump is a lying blowhard who mouths off constantly. Would've preferred it if Biden didn't let Trump get under his skin and was able to maintain his composure a little better. I think Trump is a giant piece of shit, but he's still the sitting president. Telling the president to shut up and calling him a clown shows a lack of decorum, even though Trump operates without decorum to begin with.
The Dems doing this shit for the past 20 years, always trying to take the high ground, it what got us Trump in the first place.

then why didn't he last night.

because he wasn't expecting that question to be asked, so he didn't have a rehearsed statement for it, so he said the first thing that came to his head.

How is y'alls' reading comprehension this bad?

Once again:

But I will say that I'm glad Biden stood up for himself and fired back. Just wish he chose his words a little more carefully.

I'm not saying he should've laid down and let Trump walk all over him. I'm saying he could've picked his words a little more carefully.

Not only is "when they go low, we go high!" a worthless strategy...

It also plays right into the Republican narrative of "liberals in ivy towers", too refined and haughty to engage in (what they view as) rigorous back and forth debate (even though it's really just mudslinging)

I'm not saying he should've laid down and let Trump walk all over him. I'm saying he could've picked his words a little more carefully.
Which words?
"Shut up" were the most appropriate and succinct words to use for what was going on.
And Trump was behaving like a clown, and considers P.T. Barnum one of his greatest role models, so saying he belongs in a circus is also quite appropriate.

appropriate.
Disagree on both.

Someone who hopes to be a leader of the free world should have the poise and self-control to deal with what amounts to bluster and heckling.

He was absolutely right to stand his ground and fight back, but he's also speaking to the incumbent president and could've chose words that were a bit less coarse/more refined, or at the very least something more clever.

Regardless of how you view Trump, he represents the highest office in the land, and although he makes a mockery of the office and behaves like an oafish boor, there's a certain respect afforded the one who holds the title. I'd expect someone like Joe Biden to be seasoned enough to recognize that, and professional enough to rise above pettiness like "shut up, clown"

Would've liked to see him perform a little better, is all. Under the circumstances he did great, but he was far from perfect. If you're unable to see the flaws in his performance, you're deluding yourself

Taking it out of context, it's not some horrible offense. But when you're addressing the president in a public forum, even a president who uses language unbecoming of the office, I should hope for more professionalism and decorum.

Pardon me for wanting Biden to be better than Trump in that regard. If you want another mindless cretin spouting insults in office, have at it. I expect more.

Do i think this means he's going to mouth off to world leaders and make an ass of himself? Not necessarily. It's a slight criticism on his performance last night. I know you all hate Trump with a passion and want to put Biden up on a pedestal, but his language when he lost his temper showed a lack of composure. He can do better, and hopefully will during the next debate

It's sad that you kids can't handle some light criticism of Biden's performance. I've already pointed out that I'm voting for him, but I recognize he still has room to improve. I want him to be the best candidate he can be come election day, and pull in as many votes as possible. Being strong against Trump's bullying is key, but so is maintaining control of his temper.

He did good. He can do better.

Maybe someone could do better. I dont think biden personally can do better. I think biden did about as well as can be expected of him and I think thats why a lot of democrats are saying that he shouldn't do another debate.

Obviously, I offer a different perspective from most here lol. Imo, trump pulled a lot of punches. Maybe he's saving some ammunition for the next debates. Dont wanna blow your entire load after all. I feel like this was very difficult for biden and it showed at times. He seemed kinda mentally fatigued at points but held his own decently enough.

I think thats the best dems can expect and they know it. Why send him out there again to possibly have a poor showing if they can get away with keeping him from doing it? After all, many polls are saying he won even if outlets like npr are saying nothing really likely changed. I think expecting him to do better next time is overly optimistic.

You mean to tell me there are shitheads among the ranks of a far right conservative group?! No way?! It's almost as if polarizing political groups attract extremist shitheads. Doesn't mean the group itself espouses white supremacist views. I've also heard members of BLM chapters that believe whites are literally the devil among other hate-mongering conspiracy theories about white people like that they're envious of black people because they lack melanin and its hardwired into our brains. Shit's wild.

And if you think I give one shit about what the politically motivated "arbiter of truth" of hate groups known as the SPLC says about anything you're wrong. I prefer to form my own opinion and not reduce it to whatever someone else proclaims as the truth

The fact that the Democrats insist on following these fake rules when the Pubs clearly aren't is one of the many, many issues that currently exist in the American political system.

Every ounce of success Trump has personally achieved links back to his selfish, narcissistic attitude. To claim this same thing is hurting Biden is naive at best.

I find it funny how Trump's detractors criticize his base support for being blind to his many glaring flaws, yet eagerly turn a blind eye to Biden's weaknesses. How they fail to see a need to improve as a candidate in order to build the strongest campaign possible to defeat Trump in the coming election is baffling.

If you're unwilling to criticize Biden for losing his temper, as he obviously did, you're no better than those Trumpers who blindly accept all the shit Trump has done over the years. It's a small gaffe, but it's absolutely a mistake he made during the debate. Trump looked like a frothing lunatic, so it's small potatoes in comparison. Doesn't mean Biden should neglect trying to improve.

No, one of those things is definitely worse than the others. You're making the common "both sides" mistake where you have no perception of scale or intent or even a broader context.

Biden lost his temper, yeah. But you're comparing a fart to an atom bomb.

Good luck convincing blight not to blindly praise biden. He's a vote blue no matter who guy. Biden losing his temper is nothing compared to the devastation his politics have unleashed upon the world over the years.

I'd challenge anyone to name anything as devastating to the black community as the crime bill he co-authored. Or how about the destruction he has aided in causing to the middle east for wars that our country created to profit from. At the end of the day, I can at least say that trump hasn't started any new wars there despite continuing the ruthless drone strike program of the last administration

The house wants to cost itself an election over the next stimulus? Cool. We're all broke. Let's play at political chicken for the next 6 weeks. Surely OMB is more important than empty stomachs and businesses dropping like flies. We need to reinvent all of society to pander to rioters. Ok. Go with that. The house thinks $1200 six months ago bought votes when ribs are touching now?

Lol@ all the self-selecting squeaky wheels they base the polling numbers on now. Last year, Cheeto Benito was polling at like 28% to Shillary's 70-something. People weren't starving then. He's "polling" there again according to the msm.

The next 4 years are going to be a shit show no matter who wins. Strap in guys, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

mmhmm. Keep telling yourself Biden did perfectly fine and needs no adjustments. He's going up against an incumbent. It's a difficult task keeping a president to a single term, even a president as shitty as Trump. Don't trust the polls. They were wrong in 2016 and could very well be wrong this year. Biden doesn't need to run a perfect campaign to win, but he doesn't have a lot of room for mistakes, either. Try to see the big picture.
