As I posted before Chicago Public Schools will be virtual learning for the first quarter. When I read your post, I checked the Catholic schools (live next to one) and they are opening with temperature checks. https://tinyurl.com/y6kysqvw The Archdiocese says remote learning will be available --- how is a teacher supposed to do both?

I believe this is what is usually referred to as a shit fest.

This whole school thing around the country is gonna be a fucking mess.

I work in the South Carolina school district, and they are opening for in class learning after Labor day. The news claims that they are going to have clear plastic between each desk and other safety precautions, but being in the schools first hand, I can say that only one of them actually does.

These states think they're proving some sort of point, but it's like the episode of South Park in which Cartman wrestles the little person and the guy goes "I proved my point!!" and the kids go "... What was his point?".

Kids aren't dying though. They are mostly asymptomatic carriers that could infect older people who could be severely impacted by covid. Get your facts straight.

My college is doing this dumb shit where classes are half online, half in person. The obvious issue there being that if you scheduled your classes close together you likely have to stay on campus for an online class anyway. And instead of being able to sit in a library or something for it you may have to sit in a tent outside.

They're literally putting tents up all over campus for this instead of just going online only.

I teach at a college and we're doing a hybrid model where every class is half in-person and half online, so the students show up for 40 minutes once a week instead of 80 minutes twice a week. This is going to be a fucking disaster.

Every life is precious. It is not that a child's life >> than elder's life, it is just that a mother never stops crying when she loses a child. I was talking to a friend who lost her daughter years ago and something reminded her of her daughter and she just started sobbing. She recovered in a few minutes.

COVID-19 is generally a mild disease in children, including infants. However, a small proportion develop severe disease requiring ICU admission and prolonged ventilation, although fatal outcome is overall rare.

Four patients, all older than 10 years, had a fatal outcome (CFR 069%, 95% CI 020182), with death occurring at 3, 9, 11, and 17 days after symptom onset. Two patients had no known pre-existing medical conditions; one had a cardiorespiratory arrest before arrival at the hospital and resuscitation was unsuccessful and the other died while being mechanically ventilated in ICU. The third patient had undergone human stem cell transplant 15 months earlier. The fourth patient was managed palliatively (without intubation), due to the severity of their pre-existing medical conditions. The remaining 578 patients were alive when the study closed. 93 (16%) individuals never developed clinical symptoms. In 460 (80%) individuals, all symptoms had resolved without apparent sequelae, whereas 25 (4%) were still symptomatic or were requiring respiratory support when the study closed.

Nevertheless, our data indicate that children and adolescents are overall less severely affected by COVID-19 than adults, particularly older patients. Previous, large-scale data suggest that the CFR in adults older than 70 years is close to 10%, potentially due to immunosenescence. It is reassuring that our data show that severe COVID-19 is uncommon in young children, including infants, despite their immune maturation being incomplete, with only few requiring mechanical ventilation. It was striking that all children who died in our cohort were older than 10 years.

This proves that children are not endangered by covid 19? Am I right?

I am sure that any article that I provide will prove to you that it is ok to expose children to sars-cov-2. The tenor of the article you quoted is that children need to be protected from exposure to coronavirus but to you it proves children are little covid stoppers.

Well, no. That's just your interpretation.

In conclusion, our data, originating from a large number of specialist centres across Europe, show that COVID-19 is usually a mild disease in children, including infants. Nevertheless, a small proportion of children and adolescents develop severe disease and require ICU support, frequently needing prolonged ventilatory support. However, fatal outcome is rare overall. Our data also reflect the current uncertainties regarding specific treatment options, highlighting that more robust data on antiviral and immunomodulatory drugs are urgently needed.

My cousin's dumbo husband lost his job as a firefighter because he showed some corona symptoms at work, was told to go home and go see a doctor, and he skipped the doctor visit just to show up to work again the next day where they fired him on the spot. This dude has two toddlers and a wife who quit her job to move out of state for his job less than a year ago. He was even getting free EMT training

children whose parents are sick = playing out thru out the USA

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/09/parenting/parents-coronavirus-kids-caregiver.html

Were seeing situations where entire families are sickened with Covid-19, because its so contagious when you have prolonged close contact, said Dr. Thomas Murray, M.D., Ph.D., associate medical director for infection prevention at Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital. While most parents will only show mild to moderate symptoms, he added, the reality is some will require hospitalization, and its impossible to predict who, he said.
