To the point where it's causing me to gag and dry heave even though there's nothing in my stomach (what little that was ended up on the kitchen floor). And I'm starting to feel pretty hot.

Unfortunately I don't know how I'll get a test with all the facilities shut down in Florida. But considering the other topic where 3 of my coworkers called out sick, I've got to believe this is Corona.

but i honestly have no clue how covid works with insurance and etc

As far as medical insurance goes, some of the insurers have waived all testing and treatment related to covid, but that would depend on who your specific insurer was.

That being said, theres always time to figure out how to pay a bill. Go get checked out, thats the most important thing.

I went the urgent care center route instead of the hospital route and I have a covid test scheduled for tomorrow morning. It really appears to be just the cough because when they did my temperature check I came in at 98.8 degrees, even though I feel hot. It's still weird that I'm not producing any phlegm, either.

No phlegm is pretty typical of covid, but your temperature being normal is a good sign.

Also it seems like eating suppresses it. I also took a couple of benadyrl last night and knocked myself out until morning, which wasn't exactly the greatest idea but then again I really, really don't want to get a huge hospital bill.

But I do feel this pressure on my chest the whole time. I was originally thinking maybe tonsillitis since I get that all the time but without the phlegm I don't think it can be that.

I finally happened to find a CVS that had an open appointment but I had to drive 40 miles to get it. It was also self-administered which I was not prepared for. I did not much like sticking that swab up my nose.

Also last time I got my results back in 3 days but Florida has gone to hell in a handbasket and now it's about 10 days.

sorry but you actually shouldn't go to the er if the only symptom you're showing is a cough, even if it's a really bad, dry, consistent one. not sure why people are freaking out here.
