I wanna say I probably won... At least 20% of appeals before on my other account before the change. Lead Admin overturns seemed quite common.

Literally 0% since change and I have never been moderated for weaker moderations ever.

I really have no skin in this game, we already sent our little guy back to his day care with a lot of safety measures so if doctors say it is safe then I don't really care either way, but all I have heard is a lot of bad stuff.

I feel like Trump should be cautious here - there's going to be a strong lobby from children who don't want to go back to school - they're going to lobby their parents to vote for Biden.

I wish this was the case for us. Our girls went back to daycare last Monday, and on Wednesday we learned that there was a positive test, so the center is shut down at least through the end of this week and possibly longer (which Im fine with).

Remember: A two year old girl was tear gassed twice by police in Fort Wayne Indiana. She and her mother were simply on their way home, and not part of the protests. I'm sure it was totally justified though.

One of the major difficulties of distance learning is lack of access to high speed internet for students, particularly in more rural areas. This pandemic, I had hoped, would expose this problem and we'd actually work toward getting that fixed. After all, access to high speed internet is an advantage that would help poor areas that can't get access because telecom companies have long blocked access and overcharged. It would even help them AFTER the pandemic. Because we all use the internet in our every day lives.

Sending kids back to school would obviously be ideal. But having to shut schools back down because of an outbreak isn't a risk we should be willing to take. Teachers shouldn't have to put themselves at risk of getting COVID19. And parents shouldn't have to put their children at risk. Virtual-only until we've got this pandemic better under control is our best course. I think it'd be a much bigger setback if a few teachers and students got sick, than if we went to a virtual-only (or mainly-virtual, as our district is doing. Where only students who have special needs, or who lack access to high speed internet will have in-person classes through November). If we had this under control before now, I'd say we could probably move forward with in-person instruction. But we don't have this under control. People still refuse to wear masks. The number of infections are rising. And we have a President who praises a witch doctor who peddles demonology over science.

I understand the need and desire to get kids back to school. But it must be done safely. Otherwise we risk extending this crisis further than it's already gone. And we risk doing greater harm to the futures of these students if we send them back to school too soon. Because yeah, if nothing goes wrong there's a lot to be gained. But if something does go wrong, it puts lives at risk, as well as futures. The first case of COVID19 in a school will shut down everything, and it'll create mass confusion and it will be a major setback that can be avoided.

There's not really a way to safely send kids back to school unless you cover everyone in bubble wrap at all times. Frankly there's not a safe way to send back a large gathering of people, on a daily basis, to the same location, in any situation.
