It's not slathered in bacon lmao. He fried up some bacon, then drained the fat, roasted the sprouts and threw bacon on top.

I leave them marinated in olive oil and garlic over night.

Then roast them up and add bacon.

I cooked up some pasta, and at the same time sauteed Brussels sprouts, onions and garlic in butter, then when I drained the pasta, I saved 1/4 cup of the pasta water and added it to the sprouts which thickens everything up and turns it into a kind of sauce for the pasta.

I like this Mando person.

Also I love roasted or stir fried brussel sprouts. I have never cooked em with bacon though.

Actually I have not had any for over a year, I will have to remedy that next time I go shopping. It's hard to remember to buy veggies now that it's just me.

Brassica oleracea. The uncultivated form is known as wild cabbage and looks like a weed.

It's been bred into an amazing number of totally different plants by modifying one particular trait.

Kohlrabi: Stem
Kale and collard greens: Leaves
Broccoli: Flower buds and stem
Gai lan: Stem and leaves
Brussels sprouts: Lateral leaf buds
Cabbage: Terminal leaf bud
Cauliflower: Flower buds

Fun fact: The Jersey cabbage can grow up to 10 feet (3 meters) tall!

Maple and brussel sprouts sounds gross to me, but I'm always open to trying new things and in my experience a lot of stuff that seems unappealing ends up being pretty good.

Anyone who thinks Brussels sprouts are gross probably had parents who boiled the crap out of them. When they're overcooked, they release sulfur compounds that smell and taste really nasty. Cooked correctly, they're absolutely delicious.

Generally, for average quality brussel sprouts, you have to cook and sauce them in ways that counter any health benefits they have to get rid of the bitterness.

Unless you enjoy bitter foods, which some people do.

Bah what? No way, just cook em in a oil in a pan, with a bit of garlic and they can be incredible and not bitter at all. You can also roast em in the oven with potatoes, and have much the same results (a bit more crispyness though...btw yum). You can cook em in the pan with oil along with asparagus as well btw (get the really thin ones though so it's like asparagus french fries.

Also they are good in soups (very yummy) and with pot roast (more soft that way, but with a beef infusion that just makes them taste great.

They work with butter, with oil, great with garlic, delicious with beef (Stews/soups/roasts), they are great snacks by themselves and delicious once they have been roasted etc, even cold later as a snack. Can be great in a salad as well (cold but after being roasted).

Great veggie to add to a mix of roasted veggies for sure.

Both maple+bacon and maple+balsamic work quite well, whether you're pan frying or roasting them. Maple is a delightfully versatile flavouring, even for savory stuff, and I find it really shines when the stuff you're pairing it with strongly contrasts it.
